Been on the fence over these 2 models and need to get a machine real soon. Dealer quoted the B7500 Hydro with FEL for $12,500, B2410 with loader for $14,400 (both have rebates). I'm looking at a lifetime investment.
Is it worth the extra $2K. I can get a lot of attachments for the difference, but the the 2410 has nicer features.
Either will accomplish my needs. Bottom line is it's hard to justify the extra dough.
Comments please.
Thanks,
Dave

Well if the smaller one will do it then you made a mistake by pricing out the larger one. I started out looking at a NH TC25 gear model. I talked myself up to a NH TC33D model but I knew better that to price out a TC35D or TC40D. I often wonder if I should have gotten a TC40D but I knew I needed a lot of attachments and I had to draw the line somewhere.

I think the thing about Position control is it is like the song--Don't know what you got till it is gone---or something like that. If you never had it you will not miss it but once you had it you are going to want it. Like I said in my response to this question under the other thread, with the 7500 you can buy some implements and get to work for the difference. I do want to correct something before people get upset with me. When I said I wanted a solid increase in performance over the BX so I got the 2410 I did not mean that the 7500 was not also an increase in performance. I should have said I wanted the most tractor power possible on the smaller (smallest) frames without moving up to a 2710/2910/JD4200/TC25/L series etc bla bla which are all bigger, heavier, longer tractors. What am I comparing the 2410 to--the B7500, various BX models, TC18 and 21 and JD 4010, 4110 and of course the JD4100, all of which weigh in the sub 1500 lbs class (give or take a few lbs). Each an excellent machine, just in my (biased) opinion the 2410 is the most tractor you can get in this size class of tractor. The new JD4115 is probably a competitor for the Kubota 2710/2910 and not the 2410. So that is a new size tractor for JD because until this year they had a big jump (weight wise) from the little 4100 all the way up to the 4200 and nothing in between.
I really think tractors should be catagorized/compared not just by horsepower as is our tendency but by first weight, then wheelbase and then horsepower and then features. For example the JD 4200 should probably compare to the Kubota L3010 since both weigh about 2700 lbs and not to the B2910 which weighs only 1800lbs. Consider that the 4200 has but 27 horses, the Kubota L about 30 and the 2910 also about 30. I am pretty darn sure the JD4200 could easily out muscle the 2910 (the L3010 might be more challenging)----not meaning good or bad /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif --my only point being that hosepower alone is not a good way to catagorize a tractor. I mean, afterall, can a Sears 25 horse GT pull my 2410 backwards--Hades no!!!!!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
I hope this does not create a flame war /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif as I am just talking about tractors, not condemeing all but the 2410. By the way, I really like the TC21 and the much larger TC25. The TC25 is to big for my needs but I really like it's looks and the TC21 sure seems like a nice rig too.

Dave,

I ended up with a B2410 and I really think I made the right choice. HOWEVER, my decision was ultimately based primarily on budget. I had a TC29D at my place for a week (test loan from the dealer) that I really loved. It was in no way a comparison to the B2410. Ultimately I had to ask what I needed to do with the tractor. Then I asked myself what was the largest machine that I could get and still be within my budget (or as close to it as possible). The answer to that was the B2410. I looked at the B7500 and felt the extra $1500 (in my case) was worth it to go the B2410. Really depends on what you want to do. I know....that really wasn't much help was it! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Dave,
The dealer I went to explanined to me that the B2410 and the B7500 were both based on the same frame. The B7500's engine is rated at 21hp and the pto is 16, compared to 24hp and 18 hp for the B2410. Whether or not you need the extra ponies would depend on the size of the implements you want to use. Also, I would highly recommend the HST tranny. I just finished cutting our overgrown field this past week and was "saving" small evergreen trees that I "found" as I cut. We might move them and replant them elsewhere. I would back up to the trees to cut as close as possible. If I had the manual transmission I'm sure I would have given up on that idea rather quickly!

Oops! Those aren't the evergreens! Rather, those are some scrubby brush I cut around. I didn't want to damage my blades cutting that junk (and I'm not sure If I want to save them or not.)

Thanks for the input folks (and the hug Bo). My main concern was Position Control. I think I could see myself using it a lot if it was there. Also, with the 2 extra HP, the 2410 would run a 72" finish mower vs the 60" I would buy for the 7500. But then again, at a higher cost.
So reality sets in and I'l get the Chevy vs the Caddy.
Also, Tres makes a good point about comparing tractors, it should be by weight class and HP.

More like the Impala vs the Caprice Classic. You have to go to the 2910 to get the Caddy./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
