Hi all, Probably picking up my "first" tractor next week. BX25. Wondering if there has been any chatter on this forum about the "Quick-Hitch" system for the snow plow. The dealer is indicating that he feels it would be better at plowing two (30 car) parking lots, and a very long, and wide driveway (all paved). I really don't think he's just trying to sell me an option, but don't know for sure In my searching for this answer I've come across a few really nice home-built units. I am not mechanically inclined so fabrication is out. Kudos to all those who have the ability.

Anyway, I may wind up just plowing with the FEL but it does not seem like the most efficient way.

Thanks for any input. From what I've read so far this seems like a very friendly/helpful group. Hope I can add to the discussion as I become more knowledgeable.

Won't hurt to start out with the FEL and bucket. You can always graduate to other attachments.
I'd suggest getting a feel for what the FEL will handle with that much weight hanging off the front.

Thanks for the replies. I did search but obviously, did not know what I was doing. That youtube video was eye opening. Would love to see the tractor in action using the blade. Again, thanks for the responses. Still not sure what I'm going to do yet. In the end though, I'll still have a BX25

Questions that just came to mind....

Does the sub frame impact in any way the performance of the tractor?
Is it easy to move from blade to FEL?
Any other questions I could be asking the dealer before finalizing this deal?

Thanks,

Harry

My answer's are, no quick hitch doesn't impact performance it is so easy to remove if a problem arose take it off set it aside.moving from blade to loader is easy once you get the hang of it,it will take several changes for you to be [good at it] heck my wife does it.#3 How soon you bringing it. Probably the best way I have read about the difference between using a loader bucket to remove snow and a blade is think of your bucket as a large snow shovel it gets the job done with a lot of scoopes, and I'm pretty sure you've whatched a snow plow in action. And when those plowed banks get high that loader sure comes in handy to move them back to allow for more plowing. As always there is no one tool that works for everything you'll have see what works for you. Have fun' Bill

"If that means blading when it's still coming down, then that's what we do."

Well, some of us, like me, are wimps and let the snowing end before venturing out.

I have a BX24 and the FEL isnt very efficient to clear snow, A good 12 inch storm takes me about an hour to clear my driveway. I just switched to the BX2750D blower with the quick hitch and cut my time to about 10 minutes. If you get a lot of snow I would seriously consider a plow or blower. And for the record I do enjoy my seat time just not in 15 degree weather.

This is my BX1500 with the 60'' blade .
It does very well with it .

Snow
It is only 15 hp and has smaller wheels/tires than the BX25 so a BX25 would handle the blade with flying colors.

Thanks all for the pictures, videos and information. An informed decision is a better decision. It's good to know that moving between the FEL and the quick attach blade is fast, and easy.

I have PM'ed Mr L Brown with the fact that his photos are not posting.

Others might join me in the attempt to communicate this. Apparently, he doesn't know?:confused::confused:

I used the loader for the first season, it was a pain. I bought the blade and quick hitch and it works great, the correct tool for the job.
The only thing in going from loader to quick hitch is the grille guard must come off to mount the hitch and the hitch must be removed before installing the loader. This is probably 5 whole minutes to go from one to the other after the grille guard is removed. I have only had to do this once at a 24" snowfall.
The plow will handle it, I just had to stack it.

I looked at the quick hitch plow setup, thought it was way to expensive so I decided to make my own plow setup. The FEL is used to lift the plow and the bucket hydraulics are used for the swing. Just got to play with it in 9" of nice wet heavy snow. Worked great. :D

You can still see, right? :D:D That rig would be a lot of fun around my big pines. LOL

Visibility is no problem and if I need down pressure the bucket on top of the plow is the hot setup. Got a nice Stihl and a Salsco chipper to deal with trees. LMAO

OR perhaps you could add plow to FEL arms and have best of both worlds? You get the hieght of FEL and angled plow action. ;) Here a pic of mine
