If I get near a wasp I clap my hands and kill the little bugger!!!!
If you have any wasp flying around you place get some large
mile jugs or soda bottles and put sugar water with a little syrup
and tie them in a tree or clothes line etc as they can get in but
can't get out. I have found very large bumble bee's on the ground
and get a couple of leaves pick up the bee and put him in a flower
I don't touch them as I don't know if the oil from my skin will harm
them.

^^ that is quite a trailer. Very nice. Do you burn this year's cut wood or is that downed or dead standing?
Thanks! This was all standing dead elm, beech, or ash that will get burnt this year. The wet oak loads I cut earlier this spring/summer will get split this fall and have a year to dry.
First class set-up with those log bunks and all (y) Must be 30, 32 feet ???? What do you pull it with ?

gg
Thanks! The log bunks were a game changer. Sooooooo much better! It's a 32' trailer as that's the shortest Diamond C does an air ride hydro tail configuration. It absolutely floats down the road, I've been very happy with it.

An 82 chevy with a 454 and a 4spd currently drags it around. It's not overly enthused about it, but does much better than you would think. The truck is getting a mild restoration/repower this winter with a 4-53 detroit that's been electronic converted with compound turbos, an eaton baby 10 speed, rockwell T223 transfer case, and a ford disk brake dana 80 rear end.

It's always good to run first and figure it out later. It becomes a reflex after a couple such incidents - good story, I was wondering how it would end :)

I believe that I mentioned recently about a former coworker who was stung in the eye after spotting a hollow tree which had a hornet’s nest in it. It’s much better to err on the side of caution.

About halfway there I told her to run the red lights! When we got there, they asked me how many stings, I wheezed "one". They grabbed me by the elbow and drug me to a room and slapped an IV in my arm as quick as they could. Now I know to carry two EpiPens.

You guys are getting scary now. My wife taught 3rd grade back in the day and she carried 2 epi-pens with her all the time.

I am strongly considering getting one of those "I've fallen and can't get up" devices. Between the risk of getting hurt around the equipment or stumbling into a wasp's nest, they are looking like a good idea. With built in GPS, help can pinpoint your exact location if you are bad enough you can't talk on your phone.

Thank you for protecting the bees! There is info out there on what would happen to our food supply if the bee population collapsed. And unlike wasps, bees won't sting you unless it is a very last resort.

I think you're looking for a device which can be used to send a satellite message, basically a text message, and they can be configured to send a message automatically if they don't move for a certain amount of time (like 5 minutes) - obviously they emit a warning sound first to tell you if you're conscious that it's going to send an SOS.

Good for anyone who's solo in the backcountry away from cellular, either climbers, packers, motorcyclists, or solo tree fellers ;)

Thank you for that!

Interesting thing is I'm at a lot more risk at work, but never worry. I won't be down long before somebody trips over me.

It's out on the tractor where I worry about laying there thinking, "How long will it be before somebody comes looking for me?"

Does that work on a yellow jacket nest that is forming? I have one forming at the peak of the roof on one of my rentals. The last time I had this I set a ladder nearby and clamped a garden hose with a spray nozzle aimed at the nest. Then I went to the water faucet and turned it on until the nest saturated and fell to the ground. I left the ladder and hose in place because I figured they might rebuild. They did once or twice, then found another location. Hot shot sprays about 30 feet as well.
