Once again, I'm amazed at the generous nature of the people on here. Taking the time to share pictures and videos that will help others.

Thank you for taking the time to show us different ways of doing things.

There are threads here which I avoid because the photos take so long to load. The only way I can change my speed is to pay to have a line run 3400 feet down my road. I already did that for phone service, giving me internet speed which made me wish they'd bring dialup back.

@Jstpssng your post reminds me of the heyday during the 90's. Companies were buying up phone lines everywhere for use of dial up service. Engineers were in high demand, especially those who could figure out how to run internet through the ancient switches and wiring.

One engineer bragged:

"Give me a barbed wire fence and I'll find a way to run internet through it."

Ah, the glory days . . .

Not to flog a dead horse but not all of us can get super fast speeds. There are threads here which I avoid because the photos take so long to load. That's why I always post thumbnails instead of full in-line images. Click on the thumbnail to get the full-res image, if your speed allows for it, but it saves those working over slower connections from having to wait for the larger images to load.

I suppose. Easier to do on my computer, and not have the duplicates eating up storage on the phone. And yes... I know I could cloud all my phone storage, but I don't want to do that.

At some point, I expect the operators of this forum will catch up with the times, and increase their max photo size, or even do the compression or resizing to their needs when you upload.
My phone's camera app (Google camera) has a setting for saving photos in medium or full resolution

but I suspect it's too much a pain to swap back and forth.

Curiously, I never have problems uploading full sized pics here.

It all has to do with your internet speed.
Mine is slow.

Yep, same here. But I don't want to store my photos in low-res, just for the sake of this forum. Knowing my luck, I'd accidentally leave it in low-res setting while taking a whole slew of more important photos.

This isn't the only forum still stuck at photo size limits of a decade past, but just as they increased file size limits from those commensurate with only 1 megapixel to 10 megapixel ten years ago, I suspect they'll be increasing to accommodate modern (50 megapixel) camera files, very soon. Better yet, have the server just compress the file to desired size upon uploading.

I take photos on the phone at max res on a very recent phone but never have problems uploading.

I guess this is supposed to be a photo thread, but since the site still blocks most images taken on newer phones ("file too large"), I always have to wait until I can be at a computer to convert and resize them.
Just do a simple screenshot of your photo on your phone, and paste it in your thread message. That’s what I do. Easy-peasy. Takes 2 seconds.

Interesting. I find about 1/3 of my photos upload fine, but 2/3 get rejected as too large. It’s related to the size of jpg conversion from native HEIC, and how the number and distribution of colors affects the file size. I’m running an iPhone 15 Pro which I think has a 48 MP camera. On my prior phone, I only occasionally had rejections, 90% uploaded fine.

What’s the camera resolution on your phone?
