trailering kubota MX5100

Just wanted to see what you guys think.... 2004 Chevy 1500 extended cab Z71 5.3 3.73 gears 40,000 miles No WD hitch, just 2 5/16 ball- Trailer 20 ft 5200lbs axels both with brakes. Tractor- Kubota MX5100 R1 tires filled with LA853 loader and HD bucket. Tractor weighs 3800lbs plus filled tires at 600 total?? plus FEL and bucket 1500lbs?? no implements. Plan on trailering 6-10 timer per year.

Should work just fine. I pull a similar load with my 08 Titan and prior to that a 07 F150. Both 4x4 V8's, 3.73 in the Ford and 4.10 in the Nissan.

If it puts too much tongue weight get a WD hitch.

Also, when I tow just my 3800# tractor with loaded rears and FEL alone I have to back it on to get good balance. If I have a implement on the 3 point I pull on forward.

I tow mine on a 12K trailer with no problem (5100 w/loaded tires, FEL with HD bucket, grapple, HD 7' rear blade and a landscape rake) - it is a packing puzzle but it all fits and works great. I do not use a WD hitch and just do it as a bumper pull and am in mountains on steep climbs with lots of sharp turns. I have a little different truck (2012 Ram 2500 CTD) so I can't comment on the truck but you should be fine with the trailer!

I pull my MX4700 w/fel and loaded tires 1,100lb. Box blade on a 20' flat 14,000lb. Trailer that has a dovetail also. The truck is a f250 w/7.3 diesel and 3.73 gears, I use a weight distribution hitch, I also pull a Takeuchi TB135 on same trailer. (but not together)
The weight distribution hitch is really great! I have transmission temp. Gauge and it runs 160 in the summer, so I can tell it is no strain on the truck. ( I have done cooling improvements )

I would check the vehicle weight ratings on the door panel and look at the receiver hitch for towing capacity and tongue weight. With 2 5200 lb axles that should put the trailer at about 10,400 lbs gross. Say the trailer weighs 2,400. The tractor is at about 6,000 lbs. The truck is towing say 8,000 lbs plus. Yeah, I would check the door panel for the gross towing capacity.

Door has none of this information. It only tells you GVWR and axle ratings, nothing more. You must look at the owners manual for Tow Ratings.

Yea I would agree with you. I used to pull 16000 on my gooseneck with the same truck (extended cab) with no issues. These trucks are bulls. To the O/P if the trailer/truck configuration is properly set up you will have no problem. CJ

I'm a fan of WD hitches. They just give you extra room to position heavy vehicles on trailers. 20ft trailer should give you enough but if you happen to have an attachment like a brush hog and pull the loader to keep the weight down you'll probably have to move the tractor further forward.
