What would be a good implement for trenching a water line without having the results of using a backhoe? Right now , all I have is a 4' box blade w/rippers. (which I haven't tried yet. Thanks

Try a subsoiler. I ran 140ft of power to a street lamp and it worked very well.

I have a King Kutter combo subsoiler/middle buster plow. Either one will dig you a 6-12" trench. Depending on soil conditions and your tractor hp, it may take several passes to get to the depth you want.

I used the middle buster to dig 12" deep tenches for 4" dia flexible drain pipes to route the gutter downspout flow away from the foundation. Used my 21-hp Kubota B7510HST in fairly soft soil and dug the trench in one pass.

Of course you have to scoop out the loose dirt with at trenching shovel.

what does the code say for the depth of water lines in your area? that will have a great deal to do what implement to use.

You could rent a trencher. Around here you can get a walk-behind one for about $50 to $75 for the day.
