My 2014 Ford E350, 5.4 won't start. It turns over but does not fire. When I move the ignition switch back to the on position, the starter continues to turn the engine over until I turn it to the off position. My scanner does not throw any codes? I am thinking that the ignition switch has shorted out?

Turns out that it's normal for the starter on this model to keep spinning for a few seconds if it does not fire. I scanned it again and got a P0001 code: Fuel volume control circuit open. Located the module on the left side frame. Easy enough to get to as opposed to over the spare. What was weird, there was a bare wire wrapped around the rest and it was broken off of a ground wire. That took my friend and I a bit to sort out. The way it was prior to breaking/corroding, it looked like a repair rather than factory. Anyway, with a U-Tube video, we jumpered the plug, got action from the fuel pump. Put the module back, no pump. Local O'Reilly had the part. Put it on and viola! Fired right up. Glad that we did not have to drop the fuel tank which was full.

My intention before the truck not starting was to go for a stress test which I had to call and cancel. Does my day mean that I passed my test?

Glad that you found an easy fix.
With pickups we often raise the bed rather than dropping the tank. It saves a lot of grief. That's not quite so easy on a van though.

I supposed that i could cut a hole in the floor? šŸ˜
I've seen people do that to their pickups. To me it seemed like creating another place for rust, as well as crap falling onto the top of your new fuel pump.

I was being funny but no way that I would do that, pickup or van. Anyway, at 240k miles, I expect that I am on borrowed time. The fuel filter is in the tank as well. Having pulled pickup beds, that would be the way to go if I could.

With 240 k miles that van doesn't owe ypu a thing... but giving it up would be like selling an old friend
:D

I need to drain the fuel out of Daddy's truck. I considered removing the bed and running it down to the guy who will be doing the bodywork but he said he wants the bed on the truck for the bodywork. He said just remove the fuel line before the filter and jumper the fuel relay and pump it into a bucket or two. David from jax

Or you could simply siphon it off. Nothing like the taste of gas if you don't time it just right or get one of those cheap hand pumps from HF to get it started.

Not going to work with any newer vehicle. Anti-siphon apparatus comes installed in the fill hose.

This is what one looks like in a Ford F150. How you gonna get a hose down through that?
