I went on a trip and left my truck in a commuter lot for 5 days. When I returned I found the passenger window open and it rained while I was away, now the seat is wet. Is there anything I should do to dry it so it won稚 get moldy? It is pretty humid in Maine this season. Thanks.

I had to dry one seat in my TJ Jeep. Used a medium sized fan to blow on it. Speedy drying does not give mold time to incubate. Fan - two days - dry seat - no mold.

Oosik, hey man, you are always bailing me out buddy, and I appreciate it. I will do that in the morning and let it run a good part of the day. I do not remember the window being open, I am very careful about that but it was dark.

Many moons ago, when I was stationed on Okinawa, we used to run the car's A/C when/if we got part of the interior wet (rained frequently). Even when it wasn't hot outside. The dry air of the A/C really helped dry out any wet seats or carpet.

Let my knotheadded son borrow the Jeep. So I ask - "How in the H E L L did the passenger seat get wet" - - DUH, I duhna no, Dad. You know - I believe him. The world could fall on him and he wouldn't know. Kids..............

I tried taking the seat out but there must be some secret code that I don't know. Open the doors - put the Deltran battery maintainer on the battery(door light, overhead lights) don't want a dead battery plus wet seats - day one, fan in back seat blowing on back and underside of seat - day two, fan in front seat foot well blowing on front of seat and underside of seat.

Put large chunk of paper towel on seat - sit on it for five minutes - paper towel dry= seat dry.

I don’t have air conditioning in my truck so if I’m driving it the windows stay down unless rain is practically guaranteed. It gets wet sometimes and the next hot day dries it out without any problem. A fan would probably help but I never have used one.

December 11, 1972 we were scooping the loop in my 64 Impala during a big snow storm. Flipping donuts and sliding around.....you know, kid stuff. Suddenly my VERY pregnant 18 yr old wife says the seat is wet.

After the future grandmother told us what "breaking her water" meant, we put every bath towel we had on the seat and made the 30 mile trip to the hospital.

The seat survived just fine, maybe it was to cold for moss or anything else to grow.

Yes - from my one experience with a wet seat - - a fan really does speed up drying. Got no battery maintainer to use if you open all the doors - open all the windows instead.

Actually - I've had experience with another "wet situation". Friend drove himself, wife and Toyota Land Cruiser into river to cross it. Minor tactical error - the river was 9 feet deep about 20 feet from the shore line. We used TWO fans to dry the entire inside of the FJ40. The uber mad wife had to dry herself - nobody wanted to get that close.

Alaska - 1968 - Dick & Nalda Glassheen - Montana Cr - north of Anchorage. Reason I can remember this specific event - I laughed so hard I almost passed out and poor Nalda was mad as a wet hen. If she could have found a big enough stick - I think she would have beat Dick to death.

Gladly, the humidity is diminishing this week. I shut off the interior light and have my pedestal fan running. It should work.

Ooooh Boy !!! I remember a car going off the road and into a river in November in the U.P. of MI. Wrecker pulled it out, put it on the lift at the gas station where my buddy worked. Drained all the fluids and replaced, fired it up and water blew out the exhaust (pretty good water pump). The hunters gear was soaked and a guitar ruined. The process took a couple of hours but the interior was still soaked and temps were below 30F. The guys went on their way and we never heard any more about the event. So much for Saturday night entertainment in a small town.
