TSC Chain Harrows

I am looking for a chain harrow. I have a couple acres I will plow and disc to make into lawn and some pasture. I also need to scratch up the surface of my existing lawn and overseed it. Right now it is very bumpy due to the grass clumps. I want to run something over that to roughen up the soil and pull most of the grass clippings up then over seed. Once the new grass is in I will only need it to break up the manure in the pasture. I have been thinking of one about 8'x8'. Are the TSC harrows OK for moderate to low use? At about half the price as anything else out there I am just concerned that it isn't too light weight.

They work just fine.. have an agressive side, and non agressive. i use non-agressive for maneur busting.. and agressive for overseeding drag in..

has anyone ever made some sort of drag harrow out of rebar?

The fields shown in the thread below were smoothed with that product and the seed was covered using it also:

Thanks for the replies. I ordered an 8'x8' lastnight. I hope to see it buy next week. That should give me time to get the front lawn overseeded and the new pasture around the barn in this spring. The back yard will get disced several times this summer in an effort to get most of the seed germinated and killed before I plant the lawn this fall.

Look around for a used boom pole. I've got a piece of 1"X1" square tube on the end of my chain harrow to lift it off the ground for transport. Makes it real easy to back into it's storage space.

That is a good idea. I will keep my eyes open. I think I need to pay more attention to when there are auctions in my area. There seems to be very little used stuff for sale around here.
