Tires Turf tires on 4010

I was checking air pressure on my tires yesterday and noticed that my front tire size was different than what both my owner's manual and product spec sheet listed.
My fronts are 20x8-10 tires made by Titan. The tire type listed in my manual is 22x9-12. The rears are the proper type listed in the manual (29x12.5-15).

My tractor is a 2004 model. It was delivered with a 410 FEL, Rear Blade and 54" MMM.

I'm concerned that the smaller tires will prematurely fail due to their smaller load carrying capacity. I use my FEL a good deal.

Mine is a 2004 as well, with the same type and size front tires. I sent the following note to my dealer:

Checked my front tires on the 4010 after reading that someone else with a 4010 had the wrong size. They're only 20x8-10, like the other guy's. The owner's manual says 22x9-12. Rears are 29x12.5-15 like the manual says.

Won't these be the wrong size to match with the rears? Enough capacity for the loader? Is the manual wrong?

Already had a flat once on one front one. Slimed them both. They definitely mark up new pavement in 4wd.

I will be checking with my dealer on Monday regarding the tire size discrepency. When I checked the John Deere website on Saturday and ran a configuration for the 4010, the website listed 20x8-10 as the R3 option /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

These tires have less capacity than spec'ed in the 410 loader manual.

Will keep the group updated.

I hauled about 25 tons of gravel with my 410 loader, often filled to the brim. Found the left front tire flat and off its rim one day after doing some of that gravel movement. All I did was remove it to be able to gussy the tire/wheel relationship to get it to air back up. It held air; so I just slimed it and the other front tire. Haven't had any trouble since.

Be interesting to hear what mine and your dealers say. They're both 22 inch; so diameter should be okay for 4wd, but you could be right about the capacity.

There's another 4010 member in here who also moved a lot of gravel with his. Forgot his user ID.

Here's the reply that I got from my dealer: the book is wrong . thay dont have 22x9-12 tires for your 4010.

Not the only thing the owner's manuals is wrong about or left out. Wonder if they had Bill Gate's gang write it?

I am waiting for an official reply from my dealer/JD on this matter. While I can concede one manual in error, I find it unlikely that both the owner's manual and the 410 loader manual would both be in error. The loader manual specifically cites approved tires for the 4100/4010/4110/4115 as 23x8.5-12 tires. My dealer indicated that the 4100/4110/4115 tractors are equipped with the approved tires. They will contact their JD rep for an answer and email me the response. I expressed my concerns as a potential liability issue on JD's part.

Finally got the "official" word from JD directly.

"Scott: You indicated that this customer's 4010 Tractor was equipped with 20 x 8.00 - 10 front tires. Based on the data we have, the 20 x 8.00 - 10 tires are approved for a 410 Loader on a 4010 Tractor. Other sizes were approved and detailed in the 410 Loader OM but it appears this particular one was omitted. The Loader OM does indicate that "Tires of similar size with equal to or greater load rating may be used".

I do not know why the 20 x 8.00 - 10 tires were not identified in the Tractor OM.
