Hi,

I'm looking at a demo 4310. Is there any way to really tell what the story is on the tractor? I worry that it was a lemon that some customer had and made the dealer take it back.

I'm a first time buyer and don't want to make a big mistake. I had been only looking at a new 2210 but this 4310 demo has become available.

You don't specify how old the tractor is or how many hours it has...from what I have read on TBN the only real problems experienced with the 4310 concerned a small number of models recalled for replacement of the E-hydro transmission.
If you know the serial number of the demo in question, and it's a hydro model, do a search in the JD forums and it will provide the SN's of the recalled models.

If the dealer represents this as a "demo" and not a used tractor, he should be willing to back it with a warranty. New JD 4310's are covered under a 24 month factory warranty.
I would expect any reputable dealer to provide at least a 6 to 12 month warranty, minimum, on a "demo" model.

It's a 2003 4310 with 268 hours on it and it looks like it's it very good condition. He's priced it at 16300 and that includes the 4310, 420 FEL, 5' BH, and a 7' rear blade. It seems like it's too good to be true /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A new 4310 runs $14,500 + $2,400 for the 420 loader, and a few hundred for the rear blade. Probably like 700.

Plus your 5' BH (do you mean a 47?)

My 48 BH was around $6800 plus the hydraulics (power beyond)

Sounds like a really sweet price

Doesn't sound like all that great a deal for the package. I would offer him like $15k max.

I forget who it was but someone got an extended warr. for free on a unit from J.D. What the hey! take a crack at it , for piece of mind. Personally I havent had much luck with used anything. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifIm a buy it new take great care with it , keep it forever type of person myself. Lotsa folks come out just fine with used stuff every day . You just gotta ask yourself If you feel like it is worth the risk. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If your dealer is any count you will be in good hands with DEERE+CO. IMHO! Good luck to ya hand! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Would that $14,500 for the new 4310 be for an e-hydro machine or with the standard Sync-shift transmission ?

Dang. I thought this had a eHydro but it's a ePowrReverser. I drove it and really don't think I like it. Back to the drawing board. He ballparked a new 4310 hydro in the (gag) high 19's.
