UTV Steep Slopes 20 - 30 degree.

Been toying around with purchasing a utv. I have 15 acres.

Prime purpose would be moving light tools around with my wife.
Be nice to be able to plan how to improve or work on the next spot. we're putting in tracks trees, redoing dams etc.

I would also like something safe for guests to drive (My parents are getting older and can no longer make the trek on the hills).
Diesel or electric. ( I have refueling for diesel on site.)
Would also like something a lot quiter than say a 2305 tractor , having a normal conversation would be a big advantage.

Two models I'm considering are either the polaris ev (Read that it's electric motors provide engine breaking on slopes) or a 900 Kubota.

Being in Australia the price of both units is upwards of 20k the 900 being about 23k the polaris 20k.

Don't know anything about the Polaris EV, but the Kubotas are very stable. They are not fast, but have plenty of power, that allows for guest behavior.

I think that the 900 would fit your needs very well.

I can't get over the price in your world..Wow, that over twice the US price for a 900...It's 4K more than my RTV1100 cost with a power angle blade and some other stuff..Yikes!!!

They seem to have good power and performance, and are stealthy quiet.

Don't know about getting something comparable in Brisbane.

I wanted to keep away from the vechiles with the cvt transmissions. I think that leaves out all the jd's and most others.

Do not know anything about ATV's but just saw the Polaris Ranger 400HD being advertised in "Smart Farmer" for AU$15,000.

Kioti (Daedong) Mechron is about AU$18,000

For the Kubota, might be worth a call to TISCA on the Sunshine Coast who are discounting the price other Kubota dealers are charging for some Kubota models.

Thanks Denis I think I will give the sunshine coast guys a ring there only about 100 km from me.

Really have to hear one of the 900's running to see how loud they are.

there's nuthing bad about a cvt tranny.

I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong with the cvt transmissions. I just wanted my visitors to have breaking when they lift there foot off the accelerator (It's my understanding the cvt's accelerate down a slope like an automatic transmission. whereas the hst and electrics will brake).

Similar in that I wish it to be diesel rather than petrol as I have a 400l diesel haulage tank.

The kubota will handle the slopes with ease for sure, engine braking is the best among all UTV for sure when you let off the throttle on even the steepest hills you will stop no brake needed. You really need to operate one for sure. I haul mt 87 year old parents around the farm with my RTV900 alot and we have no problem talking, but it is a diesel so it will have a tractor like sound for sure. The other benifits far outway the tractor sound for me.Only your test drive will give you the answer.

I have a RTV1140 which I chose because of the two rows of seats. It wasn't that much more than the RTV900. It also has the longer bed, with second row seat raised in 2 minutes or less with no tools. I've also never noticed any issue with being to loud. You can hear the diesel engine running but it's not loud.
