Hi all. I've been looking at the Kioti DK45hst with cab but the local dealer for Kubota stoped in this morning and showed me there L4240 Grand cab series with a LA854 loader . I really like the look of the tractor but there trying to sell me a wallenstien gx720 backhoe attachment with it. I was wondering why they just wouldn't include a Kubota backhoe?

My main bit of work for this tractor will be snow clearing. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Grand L is by accounts a great tractor.

There are mixed feelings about which backhoe goes best. OEM is not always the right answer - for example for small tractors the woods backhoes are very favorably viewed. In the case of your dealer I'd bet he's offereing wallenstein because that's whats available on his lot...

I'm not sure a backhoe would help much with snow removal... though I'm guessing you are well aware of that.

It may also be that Kubota backhoes don't fit kubotas with cabs. not sure

Charles your right about the Kubota backhoes. There backhoes won't fit the Grand L cab models. We called the salesman and he confirmed it. I did realize the backhoe wouldn't be beneficial to the snow clearing aspect of the tractor but though it might be handy during the summer months for planting a tree and some other plants. My main concern was knowing this Kubota L 4240 would make a good tractor to clear a couple of small parking lots. I was also concerned about the Wallenstin GX 720 I've never heard of it and was wondering if it was a good name. Thanks

I've not owned a Wallenstein backhoe, but having owned a Wallenstein chipper, i feel they make a nice product. I would not hesitate to buy a hoe from them...... all of their products i've looked at are well made.

I have a Wallenstein backhoe on my tractor, I've had it about 5 years. One of the hoses leaks a little hydro, but its no big deal. I think its a decent unit, but I've never owned another brand so my opinion may not be worth much.

Tim is your backhoe attached to the 3 pt or the subframe? I'm not so sure that I like the idea of a 3 pt hitch hook up.:(

I own the L3940...Great Tractor!
I also have a woods back-hoe on it. Another great product....better then the Kubota BH in my opinion.
I also own a Wallenstein chipper. Another great product. I have heard the Wallenstein BH is also a great product if you can get it as a frame mounted unit. Stay away from the 3-pt BH's. They have a tendency to beat-up a tractor and are very rough on the 3-pt hitch system. I'm not sure if Wallenstein offers a frame mounted unit.
Just my $.02
Happy Tractoring :D

5 years, 3 point hitch backhoe, many hours, zero damage to the 3 point, or anything else.

Good to hear. Most of the issues I have heard about come from the larger BH's on the larger tractors. More inertia swinging around I guess.:)
