Hi Everybody,

My wife and I were talking this afternoon and we wish to visit Nova Scotia. We will be driving, so from Moncton area we'll head to the island. We don't have a plan, and I think it will stay that way. Just looking at sites, will visit stores and restaurants, stay in hotels. This is a first to NS and we are close enough to go anytime we want.

We could leave anytime, this week or next. No issues with this time of year, I assume we can get a hotel without previous reservation. Just wondering what tips you guys might offer. We do have passports, and will obtain the insurance forms for Canada.

Enjoyed a bear hunt near Moncton about 20 years ago. Enjoyed it. Take a look at Cape Enrage while your there... The town of ALMA is a scallop fishing village, Watch the tides change from the docks, The streams run backwards, and the ships end up on tires on the rocks from 15' high docks.

I never made it to Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia is not an island ?!
really? LOl Cape Breton is joined with a causeway, for now anyway 'till the mainlanders cut 'er free :)

Cape Breton Highlands this time of the year with the trees changing is nice, Peggy's Cove, just don't climb too close to the waters edge, you might end up swimming.........Mike

OK, if you want to visit an island in Atlantic Canada, the most famous one is PEI. And it is now accessed by a giant super long bridge that is quite famous.

Remember Ann of Green Gables?

I did a road trip out there 3 years ago. I suggest planning on going the last 2 weeks in June... its pretty quite at that time which makes things a lot more enjoyable.
highlights from my trip include...
Fire house iron works in Whycocomagh
kayaking on the bay of fundy at saint Andrews by the sea (there is a great B&D there)
Cape Blomidon provincial park
Cape george light house
skyline trail (cape breton)
fundy national park hiking trails
new river beach provincial park NB
whale watching via zodiac in Saint andrews NB
