I have an 870 JD tractor. I just purchased a 390 JD blade and undercarriage that mounts under the tractor. I need the four mounting plates that JD calls supports, that bolt on the side of the tractor. Two front and Two rear. These plates are notched and have a "C" rotating washer that locks the undercarriage into these brackets. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks:)

Sleepy Owl, I'm a big fan of the JD 390 front blade. I had one on my old JD 870 and then adapted it over to my new JD 3520. Your best bet is to get them from the dealer. Or your second option is to look on eBay for a good used blade with the mounting brackets. You may be able to buy the whole blade and brackets for less than the brackets from the dealer. I'll keep my eyes open for some brackets. I gave a friend a set of rear brackets off my old 870, if he has not used them for anything I'll give them to you. Just pay the shipping. That would put you half way there.

Here's a pic of my 3520 with the 390 blade. In the pic it has an 8 foot serrated cutting edge I use for grading about 3000 feet of slag road. For snow removal I reinstall the regular 7 foot cutting edge. I love that blade.... that's why I went thru a whole lot of trouble to convert it over onto the new 3520. Good luck in your quest and I'll check on my old brackets for you.

Sincerely, Dirt

Hi Dirt, thanks for the reply. I bought the blade and undercarriage new off e-bay. The front brackets bolt in the holes by the loader guard up front. Where do the back brackets bolt? Is it on the side of the engine sub frame? I have an owners manual for the blade but it is not very clear where it goes on the tractor. Even the dealers cant tell me. I have a 440 loader on the tractor. I was in hopes not to remove the loader mounts (horns) on the tractor. Also, I used to have a blade like this one for my 650 JD I was wondering what the flat bar thickness and width should be that went on top of the blade for snow plowing. You have a nice looking JD. Thanks, Sleepy owl.

SleepyOwl, in order for the 390 front blade to work on your tractor with the 440 loader brackets you will need to mount the 390 blade brackets behind the loader brackets.Otherwise everytime you want to change between the loader and blade you would have to remove and switch the brackets. NOT PRACTICAL! To make your tractor set up for both the loader and blade you will remove the 440 brackets. Now buy 8 bolts that are long enough to go thru the 440 loader bracket and the 390 bracket. Now you need to move the indexing ear that is on the 440 bracket in the width of the 390 bracket. To do this, cut off the ear and reweld in the correct position on the 440 bracket. Once this ear is moved you are ready to mount the brackets. First place the blade bracket in position with the loader bracket over it. Bolt in place. Once both brackets are on the tractor you are free to use either the loader or blade without removing any brackets. Here are a couple of pics of my old JD 870 with this set up. I also did my new JD3520 the same way only it was somewhat more complicated as the loader brackets also supported the cab mounts. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Sincerely, Dirt

SleepyOwl, I'm not sure what piece you are referring to as the bar. I've mounted a piece of rubber belt bolted thru the existing bolt holes at the top of the blade and it works great to deflect snow from coming over the blade.

dirtworks, we purchased the mounting plates and hardware from JD, what a show this was. JD did not update the bolt, they welded spaces on the front plates thus all the bolts that we ordered were wrong. Also, one of the c-locks was welded backwards! Trying to get the correct bolts now. I made up a nice snow foil for the front out of flat stock and painted it yellow. My son thought it was factory made when he saw it. One of the rams was locked up on the quick switch and I had to buy a new one, these are not cheap, after $390.00 later! Slowly getting there, hopefully before the snow. How did your loader go on your 870 with the plates on. Did you have to spread it to get it on them? Thanks for all your helpful info.

sleepyowl, No I did not try and spread the loader to fit the loader bracket. I had the index piece cut off and then rewelded so the loader would fit without spreading it. I never even thought to try it without moving the index piece in the width of the blade bracket. I guess it may work without moving the index piece in....................I never tried it that way.

For others that are reading this thread, John Deere also makes a blade that fits the loader. I bought mine from JCMSeven.

Hi Bloomington Mike, is this the same post you had earlier of a snow blade attatched to a loader on a 3320? I see the pictures of the older post and wondered what material was used and thicknesses of the material. Did you have any pictures of the back where the loader goes on the backer plate and any more of the front? I did see at the JD dealer a nice set up HLA (horst) welding out of Canada makes a nice snow plow blade that goes onto the loader with the new set up with two lower pins and the clips up top for the quick attatch. Thanks for the reply. Sleepy owl:)

Hi Bloomington Mike, I forgot to ask you how you connected your quick switch hoses, did you add another valve bank? Also did you use the square block that ties the quick switch rams (relief block)? Thanks again, Sleepy owl:)
