As I said in my original post, "Don't flame me on this. I am just posting what somebody with MUCH experience in the issue had to say." So you can just kiss me where the sun doesn't shine.

And one of the things the lady pointed out makes a lie out of part of you post. "If I die at the roadside it won稚 cost you a freaking cent, so be quiet and min d your own buisness and life not mine." Each of the men who are "living", if you can call it that, were on Medicare and so the state was paying for it. In other words the taxpayers. So if some idiot like you refuses to wear a helmet and ends up brain dead on a ventilator the rest of us here will be paying for it. And so will your family for years.

RSKY

Well said, Rsky. The only part of man or machine that can't be repaired or replaced if smashed is one's head. Wear a helmet.

It's a shame you live your life and death in fear for whatever reason.

Perhaps if you had a family member saved by someone else donating a body part you may feel different.

Ultimate act of selflessness in death IMO is your feeling of not giving an organ if it can be used

Personally don't care what you do, kind of feel sorry for you.

First of all I don’t fear death so much that I feel the need to fear life like the rest seem to.
So don’t feel sorry for me. At my age I have seen and done just about everything you can dream of and any insult or guess at my experience in this life would both be correct and wrong all at the same time as I have experienced much in many ways. Heck I simply wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for ground breaking surgery that was probably done for the first few times on people before you were born and one of those people would be me! So try and guess again at my motivation on why I don’t believe in cutting up my body again for sinence, life death, or any other reason.

For those who say it costs them money to keep one on life support because they get it paid for by the government. Think then maybe the government is your problem not the person who is laying in the bed being kept alive on taxpayer dollars with no real hope of recovery.

Again my stuff is taken care of and if this old man dies riding his motorcycle without a helmet or rolls his tractor while not wearing a seat belt it’s no worry of yours and it won’t cost you a cent, so get a life and mind it not mine!

Little choice here in WA state. It's the law. Ride w/out a helmet - you are a FLAMING ICON for LEO.

Besides - my full face helmet has deflected many bugs in its years of use. I HATE a juicy one straight in the mouth - but full contact with my eye - they can hear my screams over on the wet side.

Washington's helmet law was just repealed a couple of weeks ago, not sure when it goes into effect. Organ transplant recipients rejoice:thumbdown:

One day in The Netherlands after a frustrating day of work I was driving home on my Triumpf Bonneville 650. I was driving in the city a little over the speed limit. Sudden I felt a hand on my left shoulder. Startled, I looked left. It was a police officer on a motorbike. He said " please slow down a little, there are people marching on the road op front", and then he drove on.

Later, my brother borrowed my bike and after he told me: "do you know your front wheel hoovers an inch above the surface of the road if you drive +/- 75 Mph?"
Next ride I went on the highway and tried. He was right! Someone had balanced the wheel on the opposite site. The weird thing is that you didn't feel it, you could only see it.
I sold the bike not long after that. Riding was fun and I never had a accident, being self employed (no health insurance) I didn't want the risk.

Back in my ambulance years I picked up a bloke who had been wearing a helmet on a push bike. He had gone over the handlebars and landed on his head. Helmet was a good one but badly crushed. He is now an epileptic and sadly has to live with that forever.
Another case, the guy was walking a trail and slipped. No helmet and he struck his head. He also is now an epileptic for life. Head injuries happen too easily and rarely is there no consequence.
Until I woke up, I used to occasionally ride without a helmet but after picking up a few motorcyclists, there is no way I would ride without one ever again.

You also won稚 get any of my organs as I am not, never have been and won稚 be an organ donor ever.

What if someone you loved dearly had organ failure, and a transplant is the only thing that's going to save their life? How would you feel about that? You won't need those organs anymore. So why not give the gift of life?

My mother-in-law is going on 11 years after her liver transplant. She is extremely grateful to the family that donate their loved one's organs. So are we.

Please think about it and reconsider. ;)

Now a lot of people could learn from your post.

This is how you try to start a conversation with a grumpy old man that you want to see things differently!

The actual conversation would take too long here and I honestly don’t feel like making myself cry right now but let’s just say I have spent more time in hospitals and at untimely funerals than anyone should ever have to. With this in mind please understand that my decision isn’t based on greed but rather my religious or as some would consider them my belief system. With that said it would take approximately 20 pages of posts to try to get you or anyone to understand where my interpretations and the deciding factors that brought me to them come from.
In short some would think it’s ok to kill a baby in the womb, then turn around and demand I offer to let the temple God gave me be desecrated to give life to someone else. Now I know that’s extreme but remember I am not saying you but rather some and trying to show a huge difference in our or others thought process.
If we had a case of beer and a grill with some stakes the conversation would be long and polite but I am 100% sure we would walk away respecting each other reasoning and have a broader understanding of why some just don’t and never will agree.

I understand religious beliefs. Believe me, I understand. Why didn't you just say that in the first place instead of being all grumpy?

Anywho, the beer and steaks sounds like common ground.

<snip> If I die at the roadside it won稚 cost you a freaking cent, so be quiet and min d your own buisness and life not mine.

Unlike some people I pay taxes and your dying at the roadside is going to consume public funds.

As I said in my original post, "Don't flame me on this. I am just posting what somebody with MUCH experience in the issue had to say." So you can just kiss me where the sun doesn't shine.

Just please do it so no public funds need to be spent.

I understand religious beliefs. Believe me, I understand.

Please enlighten me to what relgious beliefs we're talking about.

Here is the deal... when you die, your body is worm food. What you want to do with your body aftwards is up to you, but no matter what kind of SOB you were in real life (grumpy old man or not), the way I see it (religion or not) if you can help some poor person who is in need of a body part, what the f is your body part going to do for you when you're dead? NOTHING.

As far as religion, I can believe that that a car is my God and if my God tells me to kill someone, is it my religious belief to do so? Of course the answer is no to us, but what about in the eye of the beholder?

However, the way I see it (no matter what your religion is), if you can't help others before your last breath (or perhaps in death), what's the point of living?
