So I borrowed a JD with a backhoe to do some work around the house.
The bolt that holds the rod to the piston backed out.
Apparently it had done it before
Holiday weekend, no place to buy a cylinder so I suggested he let me cut it apart and see if I could fix it.
I ground the weld off, ground a groove around it where the weld was then used a cutting wheel to cut the groove a little deeper until I saw a crack. Tapped it with a hammer and the end came off. I uses some green loctite on the bolt, the threads seemed OK, I used my 1/2" cordless impact to tighten the bolt. I then welded the cylinder back together. It worked like a charm. The owner was quite pleased that I saved him the price of a cylinder and offered to pay me...LOL I declined and asked what I owed him. I have a bit more to dig today and then I will run it home to him.
I know, I was too busy fixing it to take any pics.
