Dear JunkMan....
Just so you know ...Gatorboy called me at home today about 4p.m. because of my knowledge,(miniscule as that may be....$350 for a $2200-$2500 job) and my friend up here in Maine that can get everything he needs for his unfinished well that he needs to put a pump/pipe/reservoir/anything he needs for it !! HE and I are going to make a post or thread on how to do your own well from top to bottom!! I sincerely hope that you as a veteran member will back us on our joint venture and help us help others!!!...I hope you notice that 4 the most part my style of writing and slang as" well "(no pun intended) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif has dramatically gotten better!! Maybe even because of your influence!! Most possibly !!!..most definitely!!!!

So if you want to belittle and ridicule our efforts to make a thread that starts from top to bottom on well's >>>>Well go ahead...I sincerely thank you for your advice on cell's on and near the vapor areas of pumping stations...!!! I really hope that in the future you and i (U&I) "the shortened version" can come to terms with our miniscule differences and become compadres vs. bickering wenches!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I really was hoping to get some feedback on your need to get a haircut (SORRY ...should've used my flea bitten gray for your lookalike pic) as well as the fact that you don't like Budweiser and you can't stand a man that drinks natty light !!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

ALL MY SINCEREST REGARDS!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

I would have generated this thread under the Projects Forum, and would have made the title less wordy -- something like Installing a submersible well pump. Maybe we'll do that in the near future.

Yes, I called Polecat yesterday afternoon, he is going to help me with getting some water flowing on my property.

Some may already know this, but I own 50 acres located about 2 miles from my current home. There is no electric on the site and a 200' well had been drilled back in 1989. I am beginning to grow trees on a portion of my property and want to get a portable generator to provide power to a soon-to-be installed well pump, so I can provide water to my trees using drip line. Of course I will want to use water for other uses as well.

The well casing is steel, not the PVC type you see more common today. I called a local well driller, and he told me it would be $1500-$1700 to have them install a pump for me.

After reading Polecat's good fortune in locating a well pump supplier -- I am now persuing this instead. Hopefully through the guidance of Polecat, his supplier and you well installing experts here on TBN, I can get my well pumping water by July.

This weekend I'm going to attempt to determine the actual depth of the well as well as how far down the water actually is.

Re: WELL DONE!!! FER ALL TBNER\'S AND BETWEEN GATOR BOY

Todd, I don't think Junkman was being mean with his post, it was just that your first post didn't convey what you were actually going to do.

Regardless, I am very excited about a well thread. Two parts of my house scare me the most, my septic and my well. scare me because even though I know how each works, I am intimidated to do any of my OWN repairs. Work on either system is very expensive to have done and for the most part, something anyone with a little knowledge can do.

So, you guys get to it. My well is 345 feet deep, with a 135 foot head, pump at 315. So don't be doing some fifteen foot deep well were you can get water out of it by sucking on a straw. I want real world.

Thanks in advance, Mike

Me too! I have a hand dug well in a pasture with no electricity close by and I need to get water from the well for watering future horses.

I'm always looking forward to learning something new and REALLY enjoy seeing the different ways to build a project.

This well project should be a good one!

Polecat:

Found an old picture of a homebuilt cable tool water well drill. My Grandfathers. It may look strange but drilled many a well, some up to 400 feet.
