make sure when you lube it up, don't forget to check the locking pin on the slip clutch like I did. Lubed it up, and 6 or 7 trees later, had to do an emergency stop as the PTO shaft came off and was spinning. Doesn't look like anything significant is damaged, i.e. spline teeth, no clue where the locking pin is, have an email in to Woodland Mills. Never thought to check that pin.

Edit* replacement part (and spare) ordered. $6.32 a set. Asked if there was a temporary solution until the parts arrived, but since it isn't a straight bolt, they didn't have a temp solution. Shipping from Canada to the US, so might take a little bit.

I'll resurrect this thread for an update. I hooked up the 3038e to the WG24 stump grinder for the first time. Until now, I've only used it with the 1025R. I brought the 3038e back to the house from the acreage waiting for the local JD dealer to set a time to do the rear SCV install & take delivery on a hydraulic offset flail.

It being overcast and dark in the tractor shed, the new rear facing work lights were handy for the hookup. This also gave me a chance to try out the two camera system with the new magnetic screen mount I recently made for the 3038e.

The first go with the 3038e/WG24 combo was with a big group stump left from last year's massive tree cleanout. It was way to tall & wide to try with the 1025R/WG24 combo, roughly 6' x 2' & 18"+ on the high sides. It's one of those you have to do in layers. The 3038e has way more lift & is a better platform overall. The increased PTO HP is noticable.

(sorry no before pic - left phone inside ...)

Didn't finish as the rain started back again, so I put things away til later. I'll need to blow some chips out of the way to see where to start working on the next layer.

Aftermath of first layer removal over the whole group.

The ground was still soft from all the rain, so I did make a bit of a mess in one spot while getting turned around to put it away.

i bought a camera, you like it that far back near the pto shield? i was thinking of mounting mine somewhere on the grinder itself

It works well for me & gives me an overall view of the disc contact area. The 7" screen is big enough not to lose too much definition. A 4" screen would probably make it hard to make out. I find I really need "context" rather than just a closeup on the grinding point to get proper placement. Plus, being attached to the tractor makes for a stable mount & viewpoint. You can expect more vibration/image bounce if attached to the grinder.

sounds good I will try it back there.

I use a cab mounted camera that gives a good view of the grinder. I would not expect a camera to last very long mounted on the grinder itself. That's a lot of vibration.
