Larry Caldwell, as you said, you have had varroa for a long time. Long enough for the european hives to develop tolerance.
In New Zealand there was ZERO resistance so the wild hives were wiped out and so were a lot of commercial hives until treatment was developed. Some bee keepers went bust.
