Mom's side of the family have been Diary farmers at the same farm going back to the 1700's... the farm ceased farming when my cousin realized the land is more profitable than dairy farming.

Dad's Father was law clerk and later started his own auto business... Dad's Mom was a legal Secretary and then Stay at Home Mom and his step father after father passed away was a Tool and Die Maker... that was the first to arrive and last to leave the shop well into his 80's...

I was fortunate in that I was able to know all of them and carry forward lessons taught...

Dad's Father owned a mom & pop malt shop, was a commercial building painter, and a high school shop teacher (and probably wore other hats I don't know about). Dad's Mom was a stay at home Mom.

Mom's Father retired as a phone co. lineman. Mom's mother was also a stay a home Mom.

Never knew either grandmother to work outside the home.

Dad retired from the Post Office where he was a letter carrier for over 33 years then he became a bonded locksmith in his retirement years.
Mom was a stay at home mom the worked part time for a greenhouse.

My dad's father was a barber. His mom was a landlord. They bought a 2 story house with a garage out back. Grandpa set up a barber shop in the garage and added an external stairway to the 2nd floor of the house. They rented out the lower floor and lived upstairs. When the house was paid off, they bought another 2 story house and did the same. Did it again with a 3rd house. Grandma managed all the money. So between .25 cent hair cuts and rent, they ended up with 6 apartments, 1 barber shop, a cottage on an island in Michigan and a winter trailer in Florida.

Mom's dad owned a paint store operated during the day, and was a union movie projectionist at night. It was a 3 story building and they lived in the upper 2 floors. Her mom was a nurse.

Both of my parents worked. Both of my wife's parents worked. Both of us work. Work work work.

Dad’s dad was a part time deputy and full time citrus farmer. Mom’s dad was a sharecropper and also worked in scheduling for Delta airlines. Agriculture runs deep in our family.
Dad’s mom was stay at home mom while mom’s mom was a nurse for Dupont.

Im from a long line of farmers. My moms dad was one of the boys who was a real `Warhorse` lad. In the 14-18 war they wanted farmers to look after the horses. ``You`ll be home for Christmas`` they said.

My Mom's father went to college to become a pharmacist, but had to drop out (this was during the Great Depression) and became a farm hand at various farms in NJ, PA and VT. He ended up buying the farmhouse at the place he was working in VT and was driving oil truck for home delivery when I came to know him.

My Dad's father was an accountant in Germany. He was conscripted to work for the supply department during WW2. I never met him as my Dad came over in '54 and his Dad never came to visit. By the time I was in a position to go there to visit, both his parents were gone (his mother did come once to visit that I remember, plus one more time before I was of conscious age).

As mentioned by a previous poster, both grandmothers were homemakers, of course...

My Grand parents were all farmers. My Mom's Dad was a share cropper who came to Oklahoma as a child; his father apparently made a couple of the runs, but didn't like any of the land he ended up with. My Dad's Dad was a farmer who came to Oklahoma from Kansas in the early 1900's, and bought his farm, which was what they called "school land", land set aside to be sold to pay for the rural schools. He was also a deputy sheriff for a while, and also sold Model T Fords and Gleaner combines. Mom had eight brothers and sisters; Dad had seven.
