I went out to work on extending the electric fence that protects my cats in the barn, to go down to my little orchard out back, about 600' originally I got a battery operated one, and then added my 20 watt panel to "help it" but it still draws the battery down in about three weeks, so I have to go and get it up to the garage and charge it, I didn't buy the "solar fence charger" sold as a kit, as they only have about a third of the power output ...
The barn fence charger is even more powerful, and plugs into the house A/C with backup generator ...
There is already a 6' ground rod buried about where the bucket is, I want to run another ground wire to another ground rod at the corner of the barn, then continue with it to boundary fence that I'm going to run the power down to the orchard ... Gotta get cockeyed to the barn, in-order to dig as close to it as I can, as I want the bare ground wire to be under the drip line from the roof ...
Mostly I have lots of smallish rocks, I don't recall digging up any much over a foot ... Can't say that anymore!
One of the advantages of the 3" wheel spacers is it easier to straddle the ditch!
A big rock for the little bucket!
Got both the ground and hot wires extended to the boundary fence!
Tomorrow I gotta hook up both ends, and run the hot wire down near the orchard, then dig across to run it under ground to the existing fence ...
Overall a nice 67° sunny day to play in the dirt!
