Got the blade bolts and installed the blades on my brush hog project. I was able to head to a friend's house and cut the roughest field I've ever been in before. His dad usually mows it with an old tired '53 ford golden jubilee with a gas motor but let me mow it this time as a testing ground. The conditions were very wet, thick, thatchy grass and weeds. It took a few tries to get the slip clutch dialed in but once I did she was a cutting machine. Everything worked perfectly and I has horsepower to spare. I could have gone fast if the field wasnt so rutted and rough underneath the vegetation. I even mowed the trails in his woods in time for hunting season once the field was done.

Great job testing out your new brush hog!

Now if you are interested in a real rough cutting area in the Rocky Mountains, I am willing to let you run a test cut on my property, ha.

My property self sharpens the blades while cutting, because we grow those "Rocky Mountain Rocks" here.

Lol I actually tested it further by eliminating a portion of hedgerow with 2 and 3 inch bushes in it. It rose to the occasion there a well.

That's great, I'm amazed how they chew up branches.

I've noticed my brush hog likes a diet of green branches better instead of dried out branches.

Pulling up and bracing the fences that got knocked over from the water and ice.
And salvaging what was left of 109, 100 year old black walnut trees that we harvested a few years ago that were piled on the log landing, some of them probably ended up in the Missouri or Mississippi rivers, lol.
Cried then, at least we can kinda laugh about it now....31343.jpg31344.jpg

After one trip a month for the last 18 months (excluding winter last year) Loaded up the last trailer load of what we salvaged from the farm and heading to the Northern Rockies of Montana tomorrow, then we rebuild and start over and hopefully someday retire.
End of Oct load up the good 1700 and the Jeep and say goodbye in the rearview.

Have to give props to our local Butler, Agco/Massey dealer for getting us a replacement tractor, after locating in the next state over, picking it up and doing the PDI on it had it ready for pickup 3 days after the flood, never could have got done what we did without my Massey!

When one door closes another one opens. Ready to live in paradise.31345.jpg31352.jpg

homesteader-glad to hear things are looking up!
CG - wish I had a brush hog- have to use toothbar and old fashioned ripping the bushes out. It works, but takes a lot of time.

Also removed a 35 foot spruce and stump. Ended up with a 7" by 36" hole, where the new spruce will be going.

Still working on removing the 3 plus feet of sand that got deposited on our land during the flood last year...
19 months and about 60,000 cubic yards later, will be done this month!View attachment 672010View attachment 672011View attachment 672012View attachment 672013View attachment 672014

Sorry to hear about the flood, that sucks!

And wow, I hope you are selling all that sand?

In my area you'd think Rocky Mountain dirt had something of value in it besides rocks, they charge a customer to dig it up and haul it away for a new house foundation and if you want a load, it $200 includes delivery charge and they are lest than a mile away.

I connected my monstahhhhh! Woodmaxx 60 inch snowblower and put away the box scraper. Still a couple months away from any plow-able snow but...I do not want to put it together when its 20 degrees outside. Still have to connect the electric cables for the chute, chute deflecter and LED lights as well as the PTO shaft and softcab but I can do that in a nice toasty garage.
