Hi All,

I have a Ford 3600 with no remote hydraulic lines. I am thinking about buying a three point log splitter instead of a gas engine log splitter (one less engine/gummed up carb to maintain). I think I would have to install a single spool hydraulic valve and lines to run the log splitter. Does anyone know what valve I should be getting for the Ford 3600? I can get a single spool kit for about $320 ( Hydraulic Remote Valve Kit Ford 600 700 800 2000 3000 4000 2610 2910 Tractor | eBay ) on eBay (Please let me know if there is a better deal out there). Since I don't have remote hydraulics I'm assuming that I need the OEM style valve that bolts on to the transmission. Is that correct? I think the eBay one does this. I can't find a double spool kit. Do I even need double spool for anything?

Also, I can't think of any other devices that I might get for my tractor but would it make sense to have more than one spool valve? Any other common implements need two or more? None of my current implements (box blade, bush hog, dirt scoop, boom pole) need any hydraulics other than the three point lift. I doubt I'll ever get a front end loader.

Steve

Thanks! I have a lot more to learn. I didn't even think about flow rate. I just assumed that the flow from a factory, or aftermarket in place of factory, remote would be plenty.

Any references regarding how to use the plate? I'm assuming that I just bolt it on in place of the blank (where the valve that I was thinking of buying would go), run lines to a valve (dual?) mounted somewhere, then run lines from the valve to where I need them.

I'll have to look up what the remote valve setup for the Ford 3600 is. As well as the flow that log splitters take.

Glad I didn't buy the kit yet...

I just looked up hydraulic remote flow rate in my sales brochures. Unless I'm reading them wrong I think the flow rate might have been increased from the Ford 3000 to the 3600.

Ford 3000 spec: 4.8 gpm @ 2000 rpm @ 2500 psi

Ford 3600 spec: 8.5 gpm @ 2100 rpm @ 2500 psi

Hopefully, if correct, that will help.

Ford3600,

You can split with 5 GPM, but will be slow.

You could put a PTO pump on the PTO and and be able to split at 21 GPM .

9.9 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-1A PTO PUMP 540 RPM

Run the pump output to the IN port of the log splitter and the OUT port from log splitter to the hyd tank through a return filter.

This would put you in the fast log splitter bracket.

Thanks J_J. I think with a 3 point splitter I can always switch to that option if the factory remote won't cut it. Although I would end up wasting a few hundred dollars on hydraulic valves and lines if I try the factory remote first and its not acceptable. I'll have to give that some more thought.
