Witnessed a truly wonderful event this weekend. A young man we know was killed in a construction accident late this fall, leaving behind a fiancee and unborn child. Some friends of his organized a benefit washer tournament, with numerous raffle and auction items. This small town turned out in amazing numbers to support the loved ones of this young man. It truly made me proud to see the love shown.

That happens a lot. A 29 YO from a neighboring town has been in the hospital since last month after an injury on his firewood processor last weekend. There was a big fundraiser which raised well over >$8000. The college that he went to is having another fundraiser later this month and I know that the folks in that town will turn out in spades. His employer has started a "gofundme", when they met their goal of $8000 they upped it to 15K.

You realize that in every other developed country that his hospital bill would be....oh never mind...God Bless the U.S.A!

It's not the hospital bill, he has good insurance. It's all of the down time, plus the possibly permanent loss of his leg.

Probably should have titled it “What’s good about small town USA”

Perhaps we should think bigger, and consider acts like these are what make Human Beings exceptional...

There was a young man killed in a work accident a while back leaving behind a wife and 5 kids. The go fund me page pretty quickly exceeded $45,000.
