Recently there was a thread about buying a Mott with wheels. That started the mind going about putting some on my mower. Alamo's price is a bit much & I needed a project anyway. I had a pair of front forks from my Hustler left over from installing flex forks, so I ordered wheels & tires. Other than some bolts I used "stuff" I had laying around.
I gave it a trial run this afternoon & I am pleased with the results. My land is a mix of rough & rocky & pretty smooth. The rear roller on the mower really bangs on the rocks & makes the mower jerk at times. The tires make it much smoother riding & quieter to boot. There is a major improvement in maneuverability. A very minor drawback for me is the mower now rocks side to side a bit. For my purposes, it's a non issue.
Now to tear it back apart & squirt some paint.
