Im looking for the infamous fuse #2. I put of the lower kick panels but I only see a bunch of relays. Am I missing something here?
Thanks
Bob

Your instrument cluster is held in by 2 screws. Remove screws and pull out whole clear plastic instrument cluster. They are against the front edge. Good luck

I don't know what size Boomer you have but on
my T2220 the fuses are on the right firewall.

Thanks Farmasist.
The number 2 fuse was blown but it was not my problem.

It was part of the problem; will not start with it blown. Most replace with a 10 amp or a circuit breaker. Make sure it did not blow again. Find where the wire under the platform goes.

A circuit breaker is a band-aid fix. It's likely that eventually you wont be able to start the tractor at all. The circuit breaker will trip every time to try to start it. The actual fix involves changing the starting circuits. The attached PDF file shows three circuit diagrams. One is the original circuit. Two is the modified circuit. And three is the addition of a new circuit. With this fix, the original 7.5 amp fuse works just fine.

The Class III Boomers historically have not needed the additional relay modification to fix the Fuse 2 blowing issue. He either still has a safety interlock switch (ignition switch, parking brake, seat, PTO) that isn't functional, a loose wire between these components, a shorted wire between these switches that caused his initial fuse to blow, or his fuel solenoid is failing and is drawing too much current.

Just as an aside, the TC40DA wasn't sold until October 2003. I suspect he doesn't have a "2001 TC40DA", but rather has a TC40D. That model initially had a 7.5 amp fuse #2, that was replaced with higher amperage circuit breaker somewhere in the manufacturing cycle of that tractor.

I see I misread his profile. I didn't notice it was a TC-40. I agree that he probably doesn't need the circuit mod. I posted. However, as mentioned, there is probably an actual problem that a circuit breaker wont really fix.

Bob, I've replaced fuse #2 on occasion and have it blow again right away. If you turn the key on and see the PTO engaged light on the right of the instrument panel, but the PTO is not engaged, fuse #2 is "toast." Several of us have had mixed success with putting in a 10 amp fuse, but I finally replaced mine with a self-resetting circuit breaker from AutoZone and my problems with the fuse have gone away.

We are talking about the fuse second from the passenger side correct?
I replaced it but it hasn't blown again. After It didn't blow again I then swapped it out for the circuit breaker.
Neither one of these allowed the tractor to turn over when the key was turned. BTW My PTO light is not on on my dash. SO I don't think my issue is the PTO switch.
Thanks
BOb
