Here it is the middle of January and it has been in the 50's yesterday and today in Massachusetts. Here is my snow removal team waiting for something to do! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sorry to hear about your bad luck /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Here's hoping for a blizzard or two for you.

Good luck, Alan

That blade on the front of the Cub is interesting....I have been thinking about something like that.....Could you describe how you attaches it? Also what type of blade it is? Maybe a close-up or two? Sorry to be a bother but I priced a similiar setup ready made and it was $999.......Thanks!

Got 4 to 6 inches in in N. Illinois last night. Real nice snow. Got out the trusty Troy-Bilt blower and made short work of it.

Kinda longing for a Cub blower for the front of the 2544, but I'll have to stick with the walk behind.

For a real 'wish list', here's a treat: BIG snowblower

Took this video today at our local airport that I fly out of.

The blade setup is from my old 1959 Simplicity 700. Two L brackets are welded to the bucket for the blade to bolt to. I had another blade on it before that had another bar that went up to the top of the bucket. If the bucket was level the plow would float but if you rolled the bucket down it would contact the bar and exert downward pressure on the blade. The first blade was light and had springs on it and if there wasn't more then about 4" of snow it would just fold over. The Simplicity blade has no springs and is much heavier so I don't think I'll need the extra bar to exert downward pressure. You can also see the 1" rod through the top of the bucket that pallet forks attach to. I have seen a few of the Simplicity plow set ups for sale at Simpletractors.com. I think they were around $200. I'll try to take some closeups tomorrow.

GreenQ, If this weather stays like this you might be mowing sooner than you think. I have never seen anything like this. I saw a piece on the news yesterday about the cold snap they have been enduring in Russia. Has been -20 there for like a month with no end in sight. BRRRRRR!

Yes, very strange winter but I think it has been great. Just a couple or three plowable snows so far and it keeps disappearing. Some fairly cold weather but that has been tolerable as well. The oil bill has been up but at least not as bad as expected. I think we are bound to get hammered before long. It sure has hurt the ski areas though.

Outlander1, Here is a picture showing how I mounted the blade to the bucket. Have you looked at an ATV plow setup? They cost a lot less the $1K and I'm sure the frame could be cut down and modified to fit into a bucket. A friend of mine mounted one on a Kubota BX2200. He didn't shorten the frame so it sticks quite a way out front of the bucket. It only has to be forward enough to allow you to angle the blade.

Here is a picture showing the blade I used last year. Notice the bar with the L bracket on top that contacted the top of the bucket when the bucket was rolled forward.
