Hi,
So the clock is close to 200hrs and time to change the ENGINE, FRONT AXLE and TRANSMISSION fluids. Of course, I'm a rookie and thought the selection of the fluids would be easy. Quick trip to Tractor Supply to source the products I needed and a morning actually doing the work.
Required specs for the fluids is from P59 of the Operator's Manual, one of the most confusing documents I've ever read.
ENGINE: Grade = CJ4, SAE = 15W-40, for DIESEL engine, Qty = 5l.
Finished up with ROTELLA, T4, SAE 15W-40, heavy duty DIESEL engine oil. I think that's an OK choice.
I did read that any engine oil SAE 15W-40 would do fine, but I got the real stuff.
FRONT AXLE: Grade = API GL-4, SAE = 80W/90, Qty = 8.2l
Bought Traveller, SAE = 80W-90, Multi Purpose Gear Oil.
On the back it says it's suitable for API Service GL-5, which I believe is more severe than GL-4.
The Operator's Manual also says that MAHINDRA UNIVERSAL TRACTOR FLUID, but I cannot find the spec on this elixir.
TRANSMISSION CASE: Grade = API GL-4, SAE 80W, Qty = 32l
So I was about to but 10 gallons of Traveller Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid, but noticed it's 10W/30.
So questions:
1. Is Traveller Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid equivalent to MAHINDRA UNIVERSAL TRACTOR FLUID ?
2. Should I use Traveller SAE 80W-90 Gear Lubricant in the Transmission ?
2. The Mahindra Manual also lists, No 5, the FINAL DRIVE CASE(B), but I have no idea what that is.
PS, I already got the filters.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Regards,
Brian
