Skid steer brush cutter from a 3 point unit. I had planned on welding my qa plate on the side where the 3 point used to be and boxing in under it to keep debris away from me. I was told to weld it on the other side so it would throw the debris away from me and if I welded it where the 3 point was it would throw it at me. Seems to me it’d throw it where ever it isn’t enclosed. What would you guys do?

Hard to follow what you are trying to do;mount to the FEL? with the SS plate?

Sorry just got off midnight shift. Converting a 3 point brush cutter to run on my skid steer. Trying to decide which side of the mower to mount the qa plate.

It will throw debris out of every open area you have. If that's the bottom, front or sides, that's where it'll come out. Take a look at any of the current cutters available for SS.

Have you been watching Andrew Camarata videos again? :ROFLMAO:

No I’ll have to look for them lol. Had a guy at work trying to convince me it mattered and had me second guessing myself.

I have seen some brush cutters with both front and rear open. I never understood why they would do that. If your mower has a closed end the mount should be on that end. If both ends are open I would mount the plate on the end that works best for you and enclose the open end.

In other words you want the mount end enclosed and the front of the mower open for your skid steer.

The side that had the 3 point was mostly closed in. Was gonna weld some plate on the lower part and finish it off. And it’s squared off so it was gonna be easier

I agree, mount it to the 3pt side. Just be certain that you have your ss plate angled about 25* forward (from vertical) at the top and that's usually the opposite direction of the 3 point. If you don't, you won't have any "roll back" stroke left in your dump cylinders to lift the tip up without raising the whole mower with the boom.
To put it plainly, mimick the angle of a SS bucket for the best results. 👍

I’ve seen a few welded straight up, one from a guy at work. Always assumed that would give problems on the tilt. I like the idea of about 25 deg
