I lease my 500 gallon tank for $60/year and I get the privilege of paying an extra .10 per gallon for 'insurance' in the event the regulator fails etc. When asked if this 'insurance' replaces 'my' leaked propane from 'their' faulty tank/regulator/whatever the answer was 'no'.
They are definitely an industry in need of a bit of regulation I think. When we first moved in I couldn't get them to show up for my monthly fills under the my 'automatic' plan. They wanted to charge an extra 'will call' fee when I finally had to call and inquire about my missing fill. I switched to pellets for heat and only use the propane for back up heat and the kitchen stove. Went from monthly fills in the winter to not having had a fill in 5 years. The other day I come home to a 'courtesy note' on my door letting me know my tank is only at 35% and they are doing a summer fill program
I was going to fill this year anyway just in case. I call and they tell me the price... but it is 'going up tomorrow and we are not sure how much' :confused2:
I am just waiting for natural gas to be run up my street and I am switching off propane AND pellets
