Who's Built Their Own Pole Barn

I'm in the middle (actually, hopefully closer to the end) of building my own. It's 36x48 built almost entirely by myself (I hired out the slab). You can do almost everything with just a tractor w/ loader. It's no small feat. My weekends have been consumed for 7 months now, but when I'm finished I should only have spent about a third of what a friend of mine spent on a Morton barn of the same size.

Yeah Scotty, That was my fault - Also got pumped up and replied before I looked at the date - I am a greenhorn for sure haha - Could not delete posting after I sent it though. They have 30 ft trees around that pole barn by how hahahttp://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

this is my pole barn 16x16 I put 3 poles up both sides 3 across the back same in front then 4 inch cider poles cut the tops on a angle to fit the center pole the out side and the centers heve a pole all the way down on the tops I put 2 foot centers i had all the poles down both sides my son in the backhoe my other son on the ground bushing up the poles to me i would put up and nail then the move the backhoe back up with another pole and so on the moved to the other side did the same 20 min it was up south of Bancroft ont

Hi tthopskin, I like that idea. When did you build it and how's it holding up to the weather?

I'm making one 10x10 and I'm just gonna have a flat roof sloping to the back.

I built a 32x36 pole barn with rough cut lumber. It took a long time because I cut every board at my dads sawmill. This barn was built with lumber felled by hurricane Katrina. I wrote up a small article about it at my site if you are interested in reading it.
