I bought a B7800 a month ago with a 60" deck. I would like to move up to a 72" deck. Question is how hide is a 72" deck with the deflector rotated up. I have some gates that are only about 75" wide. I need to know if I can get the 72" deck through the gates.
Anyone want to buy a 60" deck with about 20 hrs on it.
Based on the Landpride 72" rotary mower, it's overall width is 77". Do you cut regularly with your current mower? A 72" mower with your tractor is just barely the minimum PTO HP required, so if you need to cut some long stuff, you may be disappointed in it's performance.
EDIT: I just re-read your post. Sounds like you have a MMM instead of a Rear-Mounted mower -- is this correct? If so, then my information above is not relative.
First of all welcome to TBN. I have a B2910 with the RC72-27B MMM deck. I think this may be the same deck that is used with your tractor. The absolute minimum width of this deck is 77" if you remove the deflector shield. With the deflector in place and tilted up, the width is 80". This is because of the way the deflector is hinged, and the lower sides stick out past the deck.
You might want to check with your dealer and confirm if this is the same MMM that fits your tractor. A different model may have a smaller width.
The above info is good. However, if you let your wife take the brand-new 7800/2910 on its maiden mowing voyage with the 72" mower, it may come back about 6" less wide, even with the deflector tipped up, after she tries to run it at speed between two trees that aren't quite far enough apart.
Be patient, be patient, be patient........could happen to anyone...
