Will a JD 3320 do the job?

Hi everyone, my name is Jim. I have 5 acres which I maintain 3 plus. I am marrying a lovely lady with a 50 acre horse farm. I have a JD 2305 and she has a NH 1725. Between the two "yards" I am spending 6-7 hours just to mow them. With the addition of the horse farm and needing to green chop twice before harvest, the time on the tractor is going way up. I have a 4' brush hog on the 2305, and she has a 5' on hers. In addition we have a 1953 Ford 600. My thoughts have been around reducing the number of tractors and moving to something that can handle a 6' brush hog, and still be able to mow the lawns. I have been looking at the JD 3320 and am wondering if anyone has any experience, positive or not with a JD 3320 with a 6' brush hog. I saw one of the other threads indicated that the 3320 will do the lawn work well. Thanks in advance for any and all input. Jim

The PTO power is a tad short for a 6' shredder. May need something bigger.

Step up to a 3720 and you will have more power than you can use. Costs, more, but time is money and it sounds like you need to be able to cut down on the time spent doing your chores.

JD 3520 will handle a 6' shredder. I use an older Frontier RC1072 with my 3520 and it works great. A belly mower or finish mower would work for the lawns if the size of the 3520 will work for the size of your lawn. I just use a lawn tractor for the 2 acre lawn.

I use a 2520 with the 62D mid mount finish mower. I can now my 7 acres that I now in about 3-4 hours if I am undisturbed by the kids. It is an old hay field with little to mow around. I think a 3000 series would be a great tractor, but I would also go with the biggest horsepower option in that frame size. I wish I bought the 2720.

Wow you guys are awesome. I will look at the 3570. And as an additional note, I am getting the 72" mid mount for the lawn work. The hog is for the 20-30 acres in the farm. I may keep a small lawn tractor for trim work. I just am not a fan as I feels like I am riding a skateboard. I am 6'3" and 275.

Oh and the field is too rough for a finish mower.

Ok, so now it is time for me to tweak this thread.

I am going to buy a 3320 probably used as the new prices are really tough to swallow.

And here is my request;

I would like every piece of information that everyone / anyone has in HOW to add a mid-PTO. I know that the JD configurator indicates cab models and I have already debunked it. The only REAL requirement is eHydro.

I know I can buy the mid PTO kit for about $670. If someone has a line on a better price, that includes shipping to Washington State, that's good information too. I am not fussing the price of the kit.

I am looking for the hidden costs, such as other parts that are required so that can successfully use a 72" 7 Iron auto comment mid-mount mower.

I am also very interested in talking to anyone who has actually done the physical labor of adding the mid-PTO. This includes if there is heavy lifting required.

So, this is a request for information, not about whether I should or shouldn't buy a 3320 and add mid PTO.

You guys are very gifted as your experiences have been paid for with you sweat, time and money. So I respect and want to learn from what you have lived because if who you are. Tractor guys / gals (like my soon to be wife)
