I have an L4300 as well s an MX5100 and use them for seeding and tilling things. Both are rated to lift 2860 lbs at link ends or 2310 lbs at 24 inches back.

Usually, I lift 1300 lbs and it's no problem for either tractor, especially the MX5100. I have weights on the front of both tractors. Now, I'm looking at a 2200 lb implement and wonder if the tractors can handle it. In other words, will they really lift their rated capacity? That is assuming I keep the front end on the ground?

Well, I've never tested mine, but I would suggest putting 900 extra lbs on your 1300 lb implement and finding out once and for all. I'm sure you know that if the implement hangs way out from the tractor the weight will require more lift power to raise it. Let us know what you find out.

i know that it can and should lift 2200lbs.the reason i know this is because i was thinking about renting a 3pt 6ft notill drill.and my old dealer hooked 1 up an had 3 guys on the back.and it did just fine.but id talk to your dealer about what you want to lift.

There's been a lot written here about Kubota hydraulic systems not being operated at near spec pressure and requiring "tuning". But this varies tractor to tractor.

The best thing to do is as motownbrowne wrote and add 900lbs to your 1300, say, 11 80lb bags of concrete.

I have the L5030 with a 2900 pound rating on the 3 pt. I have lifted 2400 pounds with no problem at all. ...for what it's worth.

How did the tractor handle when you picked up that weight? Did you drive very far with it and do you have any front end weights on the tractor?

Good info and advice so far. Thank you all.

Besides the FEL no weights up front. It rode and drive fine. My rear tires are not loaded. You could "feel" the weight back there, in fact this was a "large" concrete ballast box of solid concrete that I made for those times I needed every ounce of FEL capacity.

I need to trim the concrete corners a bit as my lift arms rub both front corners - so I haven't driven it a long ways - rather hooked it up to see if I should keep working this as a project or start over. I was very pleased that the tractor lifted it, and with a few tweaks, a bit of paint, it's going to get lots of use.

Don't have any pics on my phone, but will post one later on.

OK, here's how it ended up. I bought the piece of equipment I was thinking of and it weighs 1600 lbs. Let me say that even with six 55 lb weights on the front of an MX5100DT, it's pretty bouncy and I would think another couple hundred lbs would be the maximum that tractor could realistically handle and still be sort of safe and controllable. I will hit that number when I fill the seedbox.

I would say more than 1800 lbs or so of weight would make turns difficult even though the tractor is rated to lift it.

Just a thought, you could fab a bracket that could hold another 6 weights and hang them in front of your existing weights. Having another 330 pounds sitting 18" (or so) out in front of the existing weights would greatly increase your downforce on the front.

Can't say I have ever seen one, but shouldn't be too hard to fab. The expense will be the six additional weights.

Thoughts???

So, what's the implement? What are the dimensions? I know you posted the weight, I'm just curious about how big it is and where that weight is centered.

Glad to hear it'll do what you wanted.
