Will I damage a hose if I clamp it shut to do a cylinder leak down test?

If the cylinder is leaking internally it won't. But if the valve is leaking, it will. It is how you isolate the problem. Some of you wonder why people are not willing to help. Hummm, I wonder? CJ

Typical installations like that use low pressure hose and connections for the drain/overflow. I guess the first indication of a valve problem would be when the drain hose blew apart.

I guess I should have explained better. Ball valve goes in the cylinder base end or pressure line with a single acting cyl. That works really well on a double acting cylinder also, it is safe and lessens the chance of injury. Sorry should have been more wordy! CJ

Thanks, but I'll keep using my IR gun.
