kubota L3400HST
OK guys... looking for some help here. Will a kubota L3400 with FEL and Box Blade fit on a 6.5" X 14" landscape trailer? I know the weight is OK since I have dual 3500# axles, and I know the width is OK, but how about length?

west; I may be wrong, but I think your machine is comparable in size to a Class III Boomer?[TC35-45]. If it is, I'd say your a little short. Check out my post in Owning and Operating under "Some constructive critisiism please". That's a 20' trailer filled up. I think I'd spring for an 18' minimum if your tractor is as big as I think it is. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I dont know the wheel base but you will probably have to throw the Fel over the tounge or up in the air. My BX I was told would not fit on an 8' trailer. It does with FEL and BB. FEL on the tounge gave great balance to the single axle trailer.

Good point... I don't want the 60" bucket to hang too far over the tongue because it could hit my truck tailgate while making turns. Will just have to experiment....

westbrooklawn,
You should check with your DMV to make sure you are allowed to hang your fel bucket over the front of the trailer. In PA your not allowed to do that. I have a 20' trailer to haul my L3430 w/backhoe. It works great and everything is on the trailer.

If it fits your trailer thats a good thing ! But You mentioned it's a landscape trailer . Does it have the typical expanded metal flooring ? If so, You might want to think about putting on something a bit stronger . The expanded metal will soon stretch and break the attaching welds under the weight of your tractor . John

Attached is a pic of my L3830, which I think is almost identical in wheel base to the L3400, with BH. It is a 20ft trailer with 4ft dove tail. The dove tail starts at the back of the fender. As you can see, it fills up the 16ft of space on the deck, so you will be a little short with a 14ft and a grader box, unless you can let something hang over the tongue.

Floor is treated 2 x 6 so that is not a problem. The ramp tailgate is expanded metal and I will probably need to reinforce that depending on where the wheel tracks in relationship to the angle iron on the ramp.

Good points about checking with the DMV. If I have to hang the bucket over the tongue it will only be for a short time... I will definitely have to get a bigger trailer if that is the case.

Chris -

Thanks for the picture... it puts things into perspective. Actually the L3400 is about 9" shorter than the 3830. That still doesn't give me enough room on a 14' trailer with any type of implement on the back. We will see exactly what the deal is tomorrow. I will post back.

Another option you can take is to remove the BB and hoist it into the truck with the tractor if that is an issue with the vehicle code.
