yesterday,it was 69 deg. then last night it got windy and the temp dropped, winds of 40mph with gust up to 70mph, kept losing pwer so could not use computer, then today lost power at about 10 am and just got it back about an hour ago. looking down the clearcuts in my woodas ,seems like i have about four trees down across the paths. well it will have to waite till it dries up about may. will take snow any day, winds do damage, snow is just a pita.

I was think of making a post earlier today to see how you fared. We have one he** of a windstorm last night and it went from T-shirt temperatures to blowing snow quite quickly. I had a couple of tree casualties - a fifty foot birch fell across my driveway last night and when I was taking some of the debris from it down to my burnpile I noticed a tree in the bush is down. Both of them snapped well above ground level. I will have to do a more thorough survey of the bush to see if there is any more damage. I guess the good news is that we didn't get enough snow to worry about - a skif at best.

We're getting it now. I'm in Southern NH. We were pretty warm today up until 3:30 or so. My daughter and I were boiling sap down and playing ball with the dogs and just enjoying being outside. Then the wind kicked up and the temerature dropped. I couldn't control the fire so we put it out and came inside to finish. I checked the thermometer and we had fallen 10 F inside of 20 minutes. Now it is even colder and the wind is still howling.

Prepare for it to last a while. It started here about 4pm yesterday and the wind is still blowing although not nearly as hard. But still not nice and still cold.

We had the same on go through ohio. High 50's at 4pm, 30deg at 5pm. 84mph wind gust. Steady 30mph wind. Lost the gutters on my stable, but did collect almost enough metal siding to complete my 3sided barn. One more good wind storm should do it. -:)

One good thing about this wind it will dry up the mud.
12F wind still howling and the salt trucks are out, plus each salt truck has a chainsaw to clear the down limbs and trees from the road. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Thomas:

Those wind storms can get real ugly.
I rember one time when I was kid on the farm in Alberta and we had a big wind. Durn thing blew a whole half mile of fresh dug post holes near into the next county. Took us almost a week to pick them all back up.
