Wish I had my Camera Right now

I went to my wife's desk today for lunch and she got a look of terror on her face, like something was wrong with me. She asked if I had eaten anything different today, and I replied no.
She said your face is all red like it is broke out...

Doh!!!! Was welding last night and instead of using the full face shield I used a pair of flip-up goggles I bought.

Sunburned my face real good. Didn't realize it until she said something and I just went out in the 20 degree 20 MPH winds, now my face is burning. Went to look in the mirror I llok like I been to the beach and fell asleep in the sun for a couple hours

Yeah, I used to "blind tac" all the time with safety glasses on and eyes closed. Sometimes its the fastest and "easiest on the neck" way when you're fitting sheetmetal fittings together, but you pay the price if you don't turn your head away enough times.
Try tig welding in a light Tshirt sometime. The UV rays go right through.

It always cracked me up in "American Chopper" when those yahoos were tac welding and grinding without any protection on their eyes or someone would be standing there watching them without a care in the world. Now the new episodes have them wearing full face shields. Guess that little town in Wisconsin got after them... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It's not like they would be hard to find.

I have to admit that at this very moment...my forehead is still a little brittle.Also my vision has gone from 20/20 to 20/40 due to not using a shield when grinding.Never fails to amaze me how I seem to get stupider...

next time wear the face shield....the auto darking is real nice to work with. non of that trying to flop the shield down and keeping your starting spot... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

On the face shield note, the new large screne electronic shields are expensive, but IMHO are worth their weight in gold. No flipping and plenty of vision when not welding.
