All I would like to see from CNH is a much better web site and Technical support on line or via phone that can answer some questions instead of " please ask your dealer for this information."

I have seen some chatter on the Kubota site that gives me the impression that someone at Kubota is watching.

My experience with NH customer support was extremely disappointing as well. I asked to speak to someone who could answer some warranty questions and the person on the line was obviously not familiar with the terms "rental return" harvest return" and told me "all dealers are independently operated and owned" like a robot. She couldn't tell me what december's NH promotions were, and she didnt understand.....so I said "well, for example, November's promotion was 0%/50 months or $1800 cash back, and she said "that totally up to the dealer and we have no control of the dealer" It sounded like she was in a hospital bed and was having difficulty breathing........so I didn't want to get her excited

I asked for a supervisor, same canned speech "all questions should be directed to the dealer. I told her, Im trying to confirm that the factory warranty will be reset and new if I buy a rental return with under 250 hours as told to me by a NH dealer, which she replied, "NO the warranty is 2 years or 2000 hours whichever comes first, whatever the dealer told you is between you and he and is not honored by NH". I said, "are you suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure?" She said "yeeeeeeeeeeeees" Her name was Allison and she took my information and said she would confirm it and call me back...........of course she didn't call me back.

Lets face it, 1 800 customer care numbers are nothing but call centers with a book that reads "see dealer for all information" You have a better chance getting information from the butterball hotline, in my opinion.

If I have a question I call a New Holland dealer. If for some reason I doubt what they say I call another NH dealer.

In my opinion, 1-800 call centers are a waste of time and money.

And Socal, isn't the harvest rental units something the dealers do on thier own? If it is a NH program then I wonder if the dealers have to sign up with NH to do this as I have only heard of large dealers doing anything like that and around here I have never heard of anything like that or met anyone who has participated in this program. If I was you and doubted the dealer I would make them put it in writing and then you have proof of what the dealer commited to even if NH doesn't honor the warranty the dealer will be responsible still.

Just make sure it is spelled out in your contract that the unit you are buying has this many hours and on this date. The 2 year/2000 hour warranty takes effect from this date and this number hours.

Robert, I guess a lot of dealers have rental fleets that they work a number of ways. How it was explained was a buyer could have a rental/sale contract, rent the vehicle for up to 6 months at 100 percent of the rental fees going towards the sale price, and if they like the units, pay the balance and buy them. Its not a bad deal considering they brought in their harvest and probably paid for the unit by then. Tax wise Im not sure of the rent vs own but Im sure if someone is renting 30 units they must have a strategy and Im sure theres much I am not aware of with the whole rent/own programs. When I need to rent 30 unit I guess I will have the capitol to negotiate..........Im confident the dealers prefer big orders like that vs. a yearly shopping spree like I do as needed.

The only concern I have about factory vs. dealer commitment is I wouldnt want to haul the unit to that dealer for service, esp. if hes out of state.

Getting back to dgdav1's point I don't think they realize how much they have to gain by having a good web site. A web site where you can do everything from build and price equipment to discussing issues, suggest improvements and maybe even talk on line with a knowlegable person.

Case-IH has a build your own system on their site already so you can use theirs to give you a rough quote but I would think New Holland will have one soon.

As for suggesting improvments what were you looking for? NH has a contact us section that allows you to suggest improvements. I just used it today to contact NH about a different matter.

As for talking to a person online just about any 24/7 hotline is not going to be staffed by people completely versed in NH equipment and repair. You are going to have the same situation like the Mahindra folks get where you get someone who basically reads the owners manual for your tractor and the next time you will get a service tech. I would love to see NH put the owners manuals online if they could as most of the questions people ask these hotlines are owners manual type questions.

My dealer has a large rental fleet that goes out to a big nursery each year. At the end of the eyar they sell them off. The GM of the dealer who is a good friend told me that the dealership doesn't own the machines when they come back, they belong to New Holland.

I would be worried about buying tractors like those. Its bad enough when you worry about a privately owned used tractor, rental fleet tractors would almost scare me unless I was going to put a lot of hours on them the first couple years to make sure there is no internal damage from abuse.
