Woods rt60.4 reverse tiller:problem with right side bearing

We have had several instances where dirt and debri has caused the right side tiller bearing has become plugged with dirt and debri.We have hsd to replace the ball bearing and seal once and the poorly design use of a simple c ring retaining the tiller shaft into the bearing
Any suggestions is appreciated

I just saw a YouTube reviewer mentioning the same thing about rocks causing the right side end plate to flex and ruin the bearing on a Woods RT 72.40
