I am amazed by the poor quality of the 4110 operators manual. I have seen sloppy proof reading as I teach college classes, but man this takes the cake. The section on draft control is a doozie. It says if you raise the draft control lever the ground contact increases, if you lower it, it increases. Some draft control! The book has dozens of errors. I guess QA is better spent on the assembly line but the book reflects poorly on the company. Take a week and have somone who speaks English re-write it.

My Kioti manual isn't any better, it tells me that Oil should be changed every 100 hours in one section and every 200 hours in another. That"s only one of many errors in the book. At least I can blame the people who wrote up the manual because English isn't their first language. I'd think people in India would understand English.

I had a toy that needed put together. There, included in the box, was directions on how to assemble. They also listed tools needed; pliers and screw driver or butter knife. I'll bet the guy who wrote that is still laughing now; 20 years later. Of course, in assembly of a light weight toy, butter knife might be the tool of choice in more than 1/2 of the cases.

I noticed that too. Like you implied, I'd assume the manual was made in India/Japan/somwhere not English speaking....
In some of my drafting history...I wrote things in Spanish and Portugese, I'm sure they had fun with some of the stuff I wrote too!

But you are right, it wouldn't hurt to have someone who knows English, to proof read, and it does reflect badly.

Who reads the manual? Ha Ha Most don't even think about reading the manual until it is broken down and won't run.

To me "amused" is more my take on it. Somewhere I remember one entry about checking oil. The manual says something like; if the tractor wants more oil then add it. There a few other great points in 4110 manual. About a 100 yrs ago when I was in school I had a good friend who was a language major. At that time if one was going to be an interpreter or translator the person was more likely to fail his home language than his foreign language. Therefore, the person writing the foreign manual should get it perfect. It's Indian manual that should be a problelm.
