Tractor
Kubota L4330 with LA853 Loader, Yanmar YM276D with YFL1000 Loader, Yanmar YM276D, Yanmar YM147D, Case 1845C
Someone suggested I might have trouble when selling off the YM147D due to its size and horsepower rating. At an auction on Sunday, a YM155D in neglected shape that smoked terribly and barely started sold for $3600 without any attachments. The auctioneer then auctioned off the attachments. Other tractors in poor and/or abused condition at the auction also sold for very high prices.

It is a good time to sell, and a bad time to buy.
Agreed, especially with fresh paint and wax on it, but perhaps a good time to pick up a project, as not many have the time, mindset, or experience to see diamonds in the rough.

Around here, there is this incredible price difference between shiny and not. Totally silly in my view for something that is going to get dirty working. I much prefer faded paint, so I can see where the seals are leaking...

Your mileage will definitely vary!

All the best,

Peter

Your YM147 will fetch a good price.

- It's a YANMAR
- It's diesel.
- It's 4WD !!!
- It's looking good body and paint wise for the era it came from.
- It sips fuel.
- The 3PT is in demand for small homesteaders or large lot town people to run a PTO tiller.
- It's compact to fit in a small tool or yard shed.
- It can pull a PTO finish mower
- It can use a front blade to move snow.

Don't undersell it. Be firm and fair with the premium prices you can get now.

Ford 1100 thru 1900's are going for so much more right now. This is the rebranded Shibaura Japan made machines. Most of these are just as tiny as the YM122 thru YM147. They are getting good prices for them when found.

Its a mind warp thing. Buyer thinks if it looks sharp it ought to run like new. Flip side is nobody buys painted tractors as they suspect the paint is covering something up. To each his own.

Definitely a mind warp thing

👋 and guilty to being in the flip side. I don't trust fresh paint, if nothing else, it is often done poorly with rattle can paint.
Same thing with used cars and new oil in the engine.
Or horses that are sweating when you go to see them; you know they were exercised to get them to calm down, but was it fifteen minutes or five hours...? A friend used to say always arrive an hour early for horse buying.;)

Funny how you pick up these foibles over time...

All the best,

Peter

Around here, we call that 'the 5 gallon finish'...lol I've seen freshly painted tractors where the seller painted right over crusty dried on grease.

I once was very closely involved in an aircraft auction conducted by a major auction house.
Heck, they'd paint older aircraft to spruce them for the sale, and that at the auction house's expense.

That house did the same with construction equipment.
They said that sprucing at their cost was a good investment and always paid off very well and they do it world wide.

Must admit being 'on the inside' was quite an experience.
They also held a fancy cocktail hour for the big players the eve of the auctions.

Well the auctions here don't try to change the look since neglected, rusty, and poorly maintained equipment brings high prices. Most people can look at a tractor and tell the difference between one that has been maintained and sourced up a bit and one that has been neglected and had a quick coat of paint. Little things like a lot of overspray tip off the swindlers.
