Yanmar paint

It's been a while since we discussed touchup paint, (red,green, beige), however, Rust-oleum has a "hammered finish", #7219 verde green spray paint that is great for the green parts, undercarriage, toolbox, even works on the engine. No primer required. Sticks to bare metal, old paint, even rust. Color is not exact, but close enough for tractors. Attached, hopefully, is a pic of toolbox painted with it. The rest is original paint. (Note the only tool in toolbox). Home Depot has the paint.

Try dupli-color Chrysler Ind red part# de1632 engine enamel can be bought at auto zone parts stores and most auto parts supply.I have used it on my ym2000 almost perfect match for the redish color.

Dupli-Color engine enamel "Ford Red DE1605" is also an excellent match and it will hold up when the body work hits 500 deg!

Can someone tell me if there is more than one Yanmar red? I have a YM1401d--tried a "Ford Red" paint from Tractor Supply and it was too orange...my tractor is more of a bright or fire engine red, with no hint of orange. Also, I have tried the Rust-oleum Spruce Green 7737 and am very pleased with the match.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find a neat little toolbox like Norm's to mount on my trans, housing?

Tony, I suspect your YM1401 may have been repainted. It seems everyone with the "red" Yanmars has complained about the (hard to find) orange-ish color. The toolbox came standard on my YM2000B and a lot of other models. You can probably order one from one of the dealers who post here.

Thanks, Norm. I'm not sure if I feel better or worse, learning that my tractor has been repainted...
At least my green seems to match everyone else's!

Any dealers out there have a small toolbox to fit a 1401d?

There is no guarantee that your tractor has been repainted. I have seen the various shades of Yanmar red. Some do look orangey red while still others look fire engine red. It depends on how they were taken care of in Japan. Was the tractor left outside over there? Was it exposed to salt air? We will never know.
