Hi all Yanmarlovers!
I'm a dealer from Sweden who would like to shear some thoughts about using our favorit tractors in the forest.
If you follow the link below you will find some pictures from today.
We did some testing with our new grapple loader ( is that the correct name ?)

Works like a dream!!
We have hydraulic drive system on the trailer that is activated by electric switches from the tractor.

Please give me some feedback, always nice !

Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing. It's amazing how your Yanmar can do all that lifting and still get in among the trees. That's beautiful country. What area of Sweden?

Welcome to TBN!! My wife and I had the opportunity to visit Sweden this past summer. Her father is 100% Swede. We spent a few days there, but unfortunately we were not able to make it to your part. We cut through diagonally from Denmark to Stockholm and then south down the coast and across the sea to home.

I like what you are doing and accomplishing with your 2020!! Nice pics.

Ahhh.. well, I have swedish ancestors from both sets of my grandparents (Peterson and Johnson). In fact, my great great grandfather was a laplander. The fish is a christian symbol and I like the swedish fish candy and thought it would be an interesting name.

My uncle Don was instrumetal in arranging a family reunion in Sweden durring midsummer 2001. My family and I traveled to Stockholm, Dalarna, Vastervik and the old family farm in Blackstad which I think is in the Smoland area. (Sorry, I'm not good with spelling those names). Most of the family lives in Stockholm and Vastervik with the last name of Borkegren. I fondly remember those times because my uncle Don and aunt Jean tragically lost their lives shortly after that vacation on september 11, 2001. They were on flight 93 that went down in a field in Pennsylvania. There are many more stories I could tell, but I'll leave it at that. Sweden is a very special place for us.

Interesting unit. What would be the practical limits of the arm pictured in terms of weight lifted - is it rated for a maximum lift? When you mention the electrical switches, are the hydraulics solenoid activated? Assuming the hydraulics are driven with a PTO pump or does it utilize the tractor hydraulics? Although most British Columbia wood is a bit larger than the trees pictured, it certainly looks ideal for smaller diameter trees.

The max load is approx 350 kg at 1,7 m and 175 at 3,0 m the total length of the crane is 3,5 m.
You're correct its solenoid valves. I run it direct from the tractors hydraulic, the crane doesn't need very much flow, when we use them together with an ATV the flow is around 8 liters/min.

Below is a link for some bigger logs, maybe "British Columbian" style :)

350 kg at 1.7 m and 175 at 3 m is very respectable. That would be an ideal setup for cord wood or shorter length wood for sure. British Columbia is still a wood wealthy Province with much of the wood still fairly large. Attached is a load being brought out of the bush, the size which can be seen when compared to the driver. That does not mean that your unit would not apply here, it is just better suited to the smaller wood. With specialized cutting guide side racks and a hydraulic dump, it would be the ultimate cord wood system. It also looks like it would be ideal for the privately owned mills that work in our area.
