I have a Polaris Sportsman 500 DUSE ATV I find is less practical to my year round needs. I want to trade that in for the HPX.

So I went down to my dealer, test drove a Diesel Gator HPX. I loved it.

With heated cab, front blade, power lift box and bedliner, deluxe lights and 6% Illinois tax I got a price of $19,489.50 (18,300 without taxes), that is without the trade in.

I guess the question to ask is this a good year end pricing?

Thanks for your comments.

You should compare that price with the same set up for a RTV900 Worksite.

With a equivalent set up plus a hydraulic angle kit for the plow and two windshield wipers you're looking at $16,700 for the Kubota. You can probably get a discount on this as well.

At least present the RTV900 price to the JD salesman to see if he can discount the Gator some.

lloyd123,

I know I could get a better price at the Kubota dealer, but long haul, using the product, I know the local Deere dealer sends a guy out pretty much the day I call if I have a problem. The Kubota dealer is out of town, I have friends at the local Deere dealer. It makes a huge difference in how you get treated when something breaks.

I know I'm not getting the 15% to 23% some of the guys here talk about, but, I don't buy that much equipment. After looking at the quote, I'm roughly getting the standard 8% discount.

The Deere dealer confirmed the cab and blade will be in 3 weeks and I should have delivery by the week of 11-21. The HPX is already in their warehouse, so I know that's there. They may speed that up because I am a serious buyer and I am doing a cash and trade in deal.

The HPX is a diesel, and they're not going to budge much on price. My impression was they might work with you on price more with a gas HPX if it was in stock.

I am also asking them to quote a CUT 3520 with factory cab. They were trying to steer me toward what they have on the lot with a Jordale Perry cab, but's it's not what I want, but I could have worked out a good discount there.

Not sure what markup the HPX has but the add-ons aren't usually discounted as much as the main item (HPX). So the net effect will be somewhat less than the huge amounts you may hear of around here. You might ask the dealer for an itemized breakdown to figure your discount better. I'll bet the diesel is a great workhorse. I'd like to know how it does in the snow (plowing and/or playing). The gas are a little difficult to start unless you know about how engines work or are taught how to start it. If the average person tried to start my FIL's HPX gas, they would wear out the battery/starter.

Good luck and keep us posted.

The cabs really look nice but are not needed down here in south Texas except maybe for 3 months of the year.

Kyle in Tex

--------------------Freight-------Setup-------Discount
Canopy-heated 60.44 312.50 339.94
Straight blade 20.94 130.00 116.94
Diesel HPX 30.55 70.00 1190.55

As you can see, the freight and setup pretty much wipe out any discounts on the cab and blade as you said.

As far as a workhorse it sure seems like it from the test drive. The salesman drove up a huge pile of dirt they had in the back. It was pretty much a 45 degree incline. It shot up there no hesitation, he looks over at me and says two wheel drive in high, we back down and do it 4 wheel drive, and then lo. Lo of course was slower.

The cab is really a luxury to me and will give me more year round use than the ATV. The cargo box just makes more sense to me than tying tools onto to the ATV with bunge cords. When I'm driving out in the fields and see a rock I just have to pick it up. With the ATV it's a balancing act (try to bunge a rock).

Anyways with all the hurricanes, one weather forecaster said that if history repeats itself the northern half of the country will have more snowstorms. We're on hurricane BETA now, so I expect the worse. Hopefully I'll be ready for that and report back when that stuff hits.

Update:

Salesman came over for a second look at my ATV. Says he has a guy already interested.

He said all accessory parts should be in by 11-08-2005. I hope delivery is soon.
