I went this route when I was curious of when my Kubota tractor was manufactured. Kubota has a website where you can look up their engines by its SN and get the engine manufacture date. This told me my tractor was only a few months old +/- when I bought it and not old stock.Look for tags on the engine. Some manufacturers put labels stating meets EPA regulations for a given year which should be close to manufacturers date of tractor.
