I am replacing the boards on my 16 foot trailer. I got 12x2 planks of "Yella Wood (TM".
Is this stuff like Womanized or similar treated wood and okay as-is for outdoor use ?
Or should it be treated with some weatherproofing or painted ?

We have that stuff all over Florida, it is PT and they do recommend to put something on it to preserve it?

Thanks for the un-intended chuckle:D Womanized wood- that's a good one...does it wear frilly lace and carry a purse:D

I recently saw a billboard for the yella wood but haven't actually seen any yet:cool: I noted it also has the requiremnt for fastener selection just like other treated wood using the "new" method. I've noticed a lot of people haven't gotten the word about the change in fasteners for the "new" stuff. I had a conversation at work where a guy just finished building a huge deck and was unaware of the new requirements and he used the wrong fasteners:eek:

Thanks guys.

I guess my next question is: if I have to coat the YellaWood with a water repellant stain should I have bought woLmanized wood instead of YellaWood ?

I mean, what's the point of YellaWood if you have to apply something to it ? Seems the Wolmanized pine you just use outdoors as-is.

This is for a trailer bed that will get alot of wear and tear.

I don't think that you can buy wolmanized lumber anymore. When I bought my new flatbed trailer in 1990 the oak floor boards rotted out in 2 years and I replaced them with wolmanized boards and parked my trailer outside and the boards are still good 15 years later.
I put yellawood on another trailer a couple of years ago with no extra treatment and it still looks like new. I think it will outlast my trailer but only time will tell.
The main thing is to not leave any dirt or hay on the boards that will hold moisture and cause them to rot and park your trailer at a slight angle so water will run off.

I need to redeck a trailer too.
Take a look at the link PaulChristensen provided and you'll see that the dealers in Texas are few and far between ie., Dallas (2), San Angelo and Victoria. It looks like we'll have to convince someone local to get what we want shipped in.
