Okay guys after about 10 hours of seat time this weekend I have decided that the factory seat has to go. My seat is killing me. It is obvious these seats were made for the smaller Japenese behinds. Does anyone who has upgraded their seats have any suggestions?

Replacing those rubber bumpers with a set of generic exhaust flange springs, ("HELP" bagged item), is a big help.

I replaced those rubber bumper thingies with military surplus springs I found locally. Sure helpd a lot. Most of the springy suspension seats are too wide to fit on the 1700.

I think I had posted some pics of my seat springs on here. I'll try to find them.

Edit.......here's one seat springs

Do you happen to remember where you found those springs locally? Just curious, might do the same thing to mine. Thanks!

Topper's Steel Supply on S. High St. in Columbus. I can check, if you want, to see if they have any left. I bought those a few years ago.

I bought a new seat from Northern tool, $34.95 if I remember right, had armrests too! It also makes me sit a bit higher, and after I lubed the seat track so that it would adjust I could get it back a bit further too, much better. How did you attach the bottom end of those springs under the seat?

I split a 1/4" fender washer and twisted it to match the spiral of the springs. Slipped it in and ran a 1/4" through it.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out when I have some free time. Maybe I'll stop by there next time I'm over that way. Sounds like the kind of place that may have some other stuff I can't live without /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
