YM147D Fuel Filter

I am servicing the tractors this week, changing fluids, filters, etc. On the YM147D, the fuel filter won't snap up into place. There was not one in there to begin with which makes me suspicious. Any ideas? For $50 I can order a new assembly.

Check both Hoye, Fredricks and others on pricing and shipping ... and ... availability. Parts are drying up all over the place for tractors. Yes, the new assembly to ensure it all works and all fits. PLUS, ask the size of the filter that fits in the new assy. Many have gone to a generic size vs. the size that came with the tractor.

You should be able to get a fuel filter at Napa or carwueat just walking in. I'm thinking the wix number is 3262....don't quote me but I'd have to check. Google that and see what you come up with. You can even buy one at a JD dealer since several John Deere tractors use the same filter. UNLESS the 147 is an oddball or you have some oddball assembly installed?

There's a short and long version of the filter element that Yanmar used back then. The long one is easy to find, and the long cup is available from Hoye if you don't have it. There was an even shorter element and cup that will fit on Yanmar's filter assembly but I never did find where that was originally used. Some VN 'rebuilts' arrived with that bogus one.

so - measure your element and verify that what you find is the same length.

Here's the filter assembly complete that I saw stripped off a dead VN 'rebuilt' at an importer. I discovered it had the unobtainable ultra-short element. I had to buy the proper long element and bowl from Hoye before I had a complete filter system that was authentic for YM2000/YM240.
